Overview of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work individually with patients utilizing a variety of therapeutic models and interventions emphasizing person-centered treatment and harm reduction to help patients achieve positive outcomes and progress in recovery

  • Maintain an active caseload and complete all required initial, monthly, quarterly, and annual documentation for all assigned patients in a timely manner and according to best practice standards

  • Utilize individual treatment plans as primary intervention strategies for helping patients achieve their treatment goals, with updates as needed and according to regulatory standards

  • Work in a collaborative and team-oriented atmosphere to provide excellence in care for all patients at ARS

  • Coordinate care with external agencies as necessary to ensure continuity of care external to ARS

  • Complete monthly individual and group supervision to ensure professional growth and excellent patient care

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in a human services field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, etc.) with at least 1 year of experience in direct care counseling

  • One or more of the following:

o Active Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (CSAC - Preferred) from the New Jersey Board of Counseling

o Active Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certification (AADC) from the New Jersey Certification Board and/or IC&RC

o Active National Certified Addiction Counselor Level II (NCAC II) accreditation from the NCCAP/NAADAC

  • Ability to work comfortably with a primary Electronic Medical Record

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as ability to communicate comfortably and professionally with consumers, teammates, and other professionals

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to pass required State and Federal criminal and Child Protective Services background checks

  • Weekday Hours: Monday thru Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm

LCADC, LPC, LSW, LCSW, or LAC Compensation Range: $48K - $52K Hours: Tuesday-Friday 5:30am - 2pm; Saturdays 5:30am - 10am. Position Description: The Counselor provides direct counseling and case manager services to patients, consisting of individual, and group services, including assessment, individualized treatment plans, counseling and aftercare services. The Counselor will adhere to the vision and mission of the Company Essential Functions: * Maintain caseload per State Regulations * Assures incoming patients have psychosocial assessment an interpretive summary according to the timeline in the ARS Policies and Procedure Manual * Completes, with patient participation, a Preliminary Treatment Plan according to the timeline in the ARS Policies and Procedure Manual. * Completes a Treatment Plan Review and update for each patient after completion of the Comprehensive Treatment Plan according to the timeline in the ARS Policies and Procedure Manual * Prepares an aftercare transition plan for all patients at the earliest possible time and to review prior to discharge * Documents each individual, group, case management or other patient contacts by way of progress note written in "DAP" formula in accordance with ARS policy manual standards. * Provides evidence-based and other approved counseling techniques and interventions to facilitate patient success in treatment * Involves all patients on caseload in person-centered treatment * Provides appropriate interventions to facilitate engagement of non-compliant patients * Facilitates psycho educational and process-oriented groups as assigned on a monthly basis * Knowledge of State Licensure Standards, CARF Standards, 42 CFR and HIPAA standards Job Requirements * Bachelor's Degree Required (Master's Degree preferred in a human services field - Psychology, Counseling, Social Work) with at least 1 year of experience in direct care counseling * Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) preferred * Ability to work comfortably with a primary Electronic Medical Record * Excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as ability to communicate comfortably and professionally with consumers, teammates, and other professionals * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Ability to pass required State and Federal criminal and Child Protective Services background checks Overview of Benefits * Free Continuing Education Units * Tuition Reimbursement for qualifying current students * Competitive Benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, Long Term and Short Term Disability, 401k, and PTO * Networking and Community Engagement Opportunities to help advocate for Medication Assisted Treatment and harm reduction in the scope of addiction treatment and intervention * Early morning hours allow staff to focus on hobbies, family, and friends, or further educational and professional pursuits in the afternoon and evenings.
