Job Summary: US Eye has an immediate opening for a Full-time Scrub Technician to assist in Ophthalmic Surgery in our busy, fast paced, AAAHC certified ASC. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the scrub technician is responsible for providing the necessary equipment, instruments and/or supplies during ophthalmic surgery with the surgeon, nurses, and staff. The ideal candidate must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, and ever-changing environment. Essential Job Functions:

• Preparation of the operating room and assisting the surgeon during procedures.

• The surgical suite must be equipped, and made ready, and the safety of the operative environment ensured for both the patient and ASC personnel.

• Working knowledge of the equipment used during surgery as well as an efficient and organized approach to the instrument tray and sterile fields are a must.

Competencies:

• Experience in the cleaning and sterilization of instruments or previous experience/training as a surgical scrub tech preferred

• Ability to read and communicate effectively with patients, peers, supervisors, and team

• Ability to work in a collaborative environment with patients, physicians, and staff

• Excellent customer service skills are a must!

• Travel to multiple locations may be required

Education and Experience:

• 1-3 years of experience as a scrub technician

• High School Diploma or equivalency is required

• Surgical Technologist Certification (required)

• Experience in Ophthalmology (preferred)

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position located in Chesapeake, VA.

• Travel to other locations as necessary
