Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) needed for four weeks up front then 2 week extensions after that. Schedule will be Monday through Friday.

Start time will be 7:00am - 3:30pm. Pager will be every 6th weekend and every 6 weeknight. Cases will be a mix is General, Gyn, C-Sections, Pediatric Dental, Rare Pediatric ENT, Urology, Plastics, Orthopedics, and Sedation for Pain Blocks. There will be no Hearts, no Neurosurgery, and no sick infants.

The RN Clinical Reviewer is responsible for providing the clinical leadership and expertise for the coordination of Non VA Care Coordination Program. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities RN Clinical Reviewer functional role includes organizing and coordinating the clinical components for the authorization of non-VA services in response to individual health care needs along the illness and care continuum and in multiple settings; and clinical adjudication of emergency care claims. Responsibilities of the RN Clinical Reviewer include the following: * Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of nursing clinical practice and case management principles to assess appropriate level of care and to ensure compliance with established Non-VA care authorizations and guidelines resulting in approvals and/or denials for non-VA care. * Conforms to VHA regulations governing consent to release information, ensures confidentiality of all patient information, and guides others to protect patient/family rights. * Assures resources are applied in the most cost-effective manner while promoting quality patient care. Utilizes cost benefit analysis for purchased care requests and performs cost estimation for Non-VA care services, as applicable. * Promotes cooperation and teamwork within the Purchased Care Program and appropriately seeks clinical staff involvement as needed to evaluate standards of practice and interpret regulations. * Conducts clinical reviews to interpret and evaluate complex data directly related to diagnosis, condition, and treatment to assure appropriate medical necessity, appropriate care coordination, and timely utilization of non-VA health care services. * Promotes excellence in customer service, internal/external by incorporating the VHA Core Values (integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect, excellence) into daily practice and performance. * Serves as a clinical and nursing resource for staff conducting concurrent and retrospective claim audits. * Utilizes systems thinking to monitor non-VA program elements and identify core needs of multidisciplinary staff regarding Non-VA Care program regulations and requirements, and implements a plan to resolve those needs. * Demonstrates knowledge of complex automated data processing systems and their application for communication and data management. (e.g., VISTA, CPRS, VHA Intranet, FBCS, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook) * Observes safety practices, maintains safe work environment, and follows procedures for reporting unsafe conditions and ensuring corrective action to prevent potential hazardous situations. Preferred Experience: At five (5) years clinical nursing experience as a RN, managed care experience as a RN or case management experience as a RN; proficiency in computer software programs (such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer); strong writing; strong analytical ability, health assessment ability to obtain descriptions about patient symptoms, how the symptoms developed, and a process to discover any associated physical findings to identify level of care needed. Experience as an RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.
