Performs basic foot care activities, and/or serves under the direction and supervision of the practice physician/podiatrist, advanced practice professional and/or registered nursing staff. Performs a variety of specialized clinic procedures such as preliminary examinations, and basic podiatric work.

Performs standardized and routine non-invasive procedures including debriding corns and calluses, trimming nails, and providing blister care. Initiates treatment, such as debridement of ingrown, elongated, or fungal toenails with and without cautery, debrides warts, diabetic ulcers, assesses for infection, and removes foreign bodies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.High School Diploma or equivalent

2.Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date

3.Certified Podiatric Medical Assistant or must obtain certification within 12 months of hire,

OR LPN with podiatry experience and current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing, OR licensed nail technician.

EXPERIENCE:

1.Requires 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant, LPN, or Medical Nail Technician.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1.Experience performing manual toenail debridement and callous care

2.Experience and skill in performing myriad casting techniques.

3.May also perform related duties such as:

Greeting and escorting patients to exam rooms.

preparing for provider visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs, preparing exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies.

Assisting physician/podiatrist, advanced practice professional or registered nurse with and/or performing exams, tests, and procedures.

Educating patients on follow up expectations.

Ensuring all medical equipment is in proper working condition.

Assisting patients with completion of medical documentation.

3.Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.

4.Ability to adapt to changing environments.

5.Ability to use and learn software applications.

6.Ability to organize and prioritize work.

7.Ability to work in both an independent and team setting.
