Roles & Responsibilities:

The Certified Pharmacy Technician prepares, under Mount Sinai Pharmacy guidelines, pharmaceutical orders for patient care areas, maintains adequate stock levels, reviews medical areas for expired drugs, maintains refrigeration temperature logs, and provides general assistance to pharmacists.
1.Fills medication orders accurately.
2.Retrieves and delivers medication in a timely fashion.
3.Maintains adequate stock levels in the pharmacy and does not over-stock.
4.Prepares/ checks Urgent Use Stock orders for patient care areas accurately and does not over-stock.
5.Reviews medication areas for expired drugs in a timely fashion.
6.Maintains medication refrigerator temperature logs in pharmacy areas and nursing units (as assigned).
7.Determines the intravenous antibiotic needs of each of the satellite units at the beginning of the shift.
8.Prepares Laminar Flow Hood for usage.
9.Operates the Baxa pump.
10.Reconstitutes antibiotic piggyback bottles with the proper diluents using aseptic technique.
11.Defrosts frozen antibiotic intravenous mini-bags.
12.Prepares antibiotic concentrate and aseptically adds to diluents mini-bags.
13.Rotates all antibiotic products to maintain the maximum expiration and properly disposes of all expired products.
14.Fills orders for satellites not involved with centralized IV program.
15.Maintains the area in a neat and hygienic manner.
16.Properly disposes of all intravenous needles and tubing and equipment.
17.Assists in maintaining all required records.
18.Provides general assistance to the pharmacist.
19.Maintains inventory of all needed intravenous supplies.
20.Prepares all pre-manufactured I.V.'s with patient label to be checked by pharmacist.
21.Delivery of patient IV's to nursing units.
22.Performs all related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • HS/GED; Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician training program, OR an advanced degree, i.e. a Pharmacy Degree from another country OR relevant experience.

  • 1-2 years relevant experience as a hospital pharmacy technician preferred: IV experience preferred

  • CPhT required - PTCB

NURSING ADMINISTRATION - REQ #83119 JOB TITLE: Staffing Assistant Nursing Job Summary: Performs clerical duties for Staffing and Private Duty Offices Roles & Responsibilities: * Performs receptionist duties and screens all personnel and visitors * Prepares time schedules for all float and per diem personnel * Collects and assembles time schedules for approval and copying * Assists in preparing daily staffing sheets, checks against Master Schedules, makes time changes as necessary, verifies staffing with Clinical Coordinator, Assistant Nursing Care Coordinator or charge personnel to assure proper coverage of nursing units * Calls staff for reassignment or overtime; notifies and records appropriately * Assigns supplemental and private duty staff * Makes telephone calls to obtain additional staff as necessary * Records absence from duty of nursing personnel and reports information to appropriate unit * Maintains record of all vacations for all nursing personnel * Records unit census and classification on daily staffing sheets * Checks the JCAHO regulatory requirements for supplemental and private duty staff * Works with Nursing Payroll Clerks to compile data and maintain statistics related to staffing, i.e., patient classification, nursing care hours, census fluctuation, overtime and Per Diem utilization * Maintains and updates addresses and the phone numbers of nursing employees * Orients patients and families about direct payment of private duty nurses and attendants * Maintains employee card files from position controls * Checks licensures periodically and reports any discrepancies * May relieve Nursing Payroll Clerk as needed * Contacts private duty and supplemental staff agencies when unable to fill requests for "on call" list * Verifies all invoices for staffing from outside agencies * Plans coverage for patients on close observation utilizing staff and/or registry * Prepares and maintains patient cards and private duty nurse and attendant cards * Answers correspondence from patients, families, and insurance companies for reimbursement purposes Requirements: * High School Graduate * 2 years clerical experience preferably in health care * MS Office Suite - Basic Strength Through Diversity The Mount Sinai Health System believes that diversity and inclusion is a driver for excellence.
