Summary: Plans, organizes, directs or carries out a program of therapeutic group activities which are designed to assess functional/cognitive skills of patients, improve patients# socialization and adaptive skills, help patients adapt to the environment, and enhance patients# adjustment to discharge to the community.

Provides role as patient advocate through his/her own role modeling of standards of performance by communicating and meeting patients# needs for service.# Works in collaboration with unit staff and the inter-disciplinary team to coordinate and implement the group programming in order to meet the treatment needs of patients.# Screens patients for needs and administers screening and assessments as directed by Supervisor.# # Education: ### High School Diploma or GED required.# # Licensure: Graduate from an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program.# Must also be registered and eligible in the State of Rhode Island.


Experience:


Minimum of one-year experience in a psychiatric occupational therapy setting. # Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Clean, well-lighted, and well-ventilated area.# Exposed daily to disagreeable odors, sights of bodily wastes and contaminated equipment.# May be exposed to infectious diseases and/or bodily harm from combative patients.# Required to carry, push, pull equipment as well as turn, transfer, and assist patients with ADLs and/or therapeutic exercise.# Follows safety regulations, Infection Control policies, and Universal Precautions.
