Job Description:

In accordance with physician's orders and under the supervision of a Certified Occupational Therapist, the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides care based on physical and occupational therapy evaluation/assessment that is appropriate for patient's needs and medical condition. This includes:

  • Performs basic assessments of patient condition at pre-admission, admission and ongoing through the course of treatment.

  • Participates with the patient, family and rehabilitation team in the development and implementation of an interdisciplinary treatment plan.

  • Provides instruction, guidance and treatment to patients with functional limitations in order to improve the quality of life.

  • Performs prescribed Occupational Therapy treatment and services including daily living skills and functional mobility.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy Assistant.

  • State Licensure as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.

  • Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider.

Responsibilities: * Provide personal care to residents per their individualized plan of care. * Prepare residents for meals and assist to and from the dining room. Assist residents with meal set up and eating. * Assist residents with toilet and incontinence care. * Perform clinical procedures according to facility standards and scope of practice regulations. * Perform vital signs, B/Ps, weights and other trained procedures as directed by management. * Complete prevention and restorative care including, but not limited to, PROM, AROM, ambulation, transferring, bathing, grooming, and all other ADL care. * Assist in turning, positioning, and repositioning of residents as outlined in the resident's service plan. * Communicate effectively with the residents, families, visitors, members of the health care team, and other disciplines. * Maintain education development and compliance with State and Federal Regulations and current knowledge of resident care practices. * Maintain resident confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policies. * Perform other duties as assigned.
