Position Summary:

The incumbent shall be responsible for providing, under the direction of an occupational therapist, therapeutic interventions in a team environment consistent with the position's qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible team fashion.

Reports To: Director of Rehab

Supervises: None

Position Requirements:

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Certification by the NBCOT following successful completion of the National registry Exam preferred.

  • COTA Certification preferred.

  • BLS Required

Education:

  • Graduate of an AOTA approved associates degree program or shall have completed equivalent training, and shall meet the practice requirements of the appropriate state.

Experience:

  • Education/experience in working with an adult and geriatric population is necessary; education/experience with outpatient programs/services and pediatric/adolescent populations is desirable.

Special Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift/transfer patients and equipment.

  • Frequent and prolonged bending, stooping, crouching walking and standing.

  • Ability to communicate.

Supervises treatment delivered by the COTA, Tech and students. Supervises volunteers. Helps coordinate daily activities of occupational therapy services, participates in program development, quality improvement and problem solving in a flexible team fashion. Documents the delivery of services according to facility and departmental standards.
