Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities:• Provide high quality occupational therapy services based on individual therapy plans.• Assures continuation of therapeutic plan up to and following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment/follow up programs.• Promptly and thoroughly documents and maintains clinical and administrative records regarding patient limitations/interventions, treatments, responses and progress to administered therapy as well as discharge summaries.• Maintains patient records confidentially.• Records treatment charges daily and completes documentation in accurate and timely manner.• Complies with the applicable State Occupational Therapy Practice Act, codes and regulations.• Attend team meetings and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic services.• Participate in parent, community, and professional training efforts.
Additional Responsibilities:• Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.• Maintains clean work area, clean treatment rooms and requests needed supplies.• Maintains professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.• Complies with all company policies and procedures.• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and other professionals as it relates to collaboration of care for the patient.• Keeps regular clinic hours as approved by Manager.• Directs all patient scheduling matters through the front desk coordinator.• Attends meetings as requested and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Demonstrate knowledge of principles, techniques, materials and equipment in pediatric occupational therapy.• Ability to evaluate a patient's occupational therapy needs and communicate the patient's needs to the legal guardian and/or appropriate parties involved in the patient's care.• Ability to communicate with a high degree of written and verbal communication skills• Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills.• Knowledge of CPT & ICD 10 coding procedures.• Thorough knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.• Demonstrate working knowledge of computer programs (EMRs)
