Certified Nursing Assistant/Cna - Emergency Services - FT Eves

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and clerical/administrative activities.

• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.

• Performs designated sterile and aseptic procedures using proper technique (i.e., venipuncture and phlebotomy, IV insertions, and foley insertions). Maintains sterile field while handling instruments during procedures.

• Performs bladder scanning, IV starts, blood draws, assist with 2-person foley insertion, application of external urinary devices, and ECG.

Minimum Education:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Skills:

Certifications Required:

Basic Life Support (BLS) (may obtain week of orientation)

Current VA State CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) License, or EMT B or C

Minimum Work Experience:

Required for CNA: 2+ years in ED, ICU, or critical care area.

Required for EMT: 2+ years previous EMT experience.
