As a CNA you have to be prepared to work irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
A certified nursing assistant' s primary responsibility is to assist patients with their daily activities.
While some CNAs may have additional responsibilities such as administering medication the core functions of a CNA on the job include:
Bathing and dressing patients
Taking vital signs
Collecting information about conditions and treatment plans from caregivers, nurses and doctors
Answering patient calls
Examining patients for bruises and other injuries/wounds
Turning or repositioning patients who are bedridden
Lifting patients into beds, wheelchairs or exam tables
Cleaning and sanitizing patient areas
Provide and empty bedpans
Changing sheets and restocking rooms with necessary supplies As a CNA, you also serve as a conduit between nurses, doctors and patients and record and communicate all issues to medical staff. Depending on where you work, other duties could include setting up equipment at a nurse or doctor' s request and transporting patients to treatment units and operating rooms.

We provide comprehensive services to children and adults, both in the community and at more than 20 Coarc locations. Individuals living in our Intensive IRA Residential Homes require more care than in an IRA. It could include higher medical needs, behaviors, communication barriers, and needing assistance with eating, bathing and toileting. What you'll do in this job: In conjunction with the Supervisor, oversee the day-to-day operations of the designated program location and ensure appropriate staff coverage. * Oversee and support the development of staff; provide training to program staff on all aspects of their role; orient new staff to their duties and responsibilities and arrange for ongoing training as required; collaborate with the Supervisor for the evaluation process for assigned staff. * Ensure proper use of individuals' funds per program requirements * Develop a shared relationship with the individuals that supports the unique personal desires and needs of each individual served; provide assistance to the individual with decision-making, problem solving and providing encouragement to become as much of a self-advocate as possible. * Work in a professional and ethical manner; establish a trusting relationship with the individuals served by being reliable and on time when providing supports and/or activities based on the individuals stated valued outcomes and goals. * Understand and report all instances of physical or emotional harm to the individual by others in accordance with Agency policies and procedures relative to OPWDD Part 624 regulations; ensure the safety and well-being of the individual immediately following any incidents of physical or emotional harm. * As needed, provide medication administration support to each individual based on their skills and abilities as defined in their Plan(s); comply with all Agency policies and procedures relative to the administration of medications to individuals served.
