Description: POSITION PURPOSE:
The Certified Nursing Assistant delivers direct routine patient care to an assigned Group of Residents on the Skilled, Intermediate and Hospice Units during an assigned shift. The CNA also utilizes advanced training and skills in specialized fields such as dementia and restorative care. The CNA functions under the minimal or direct supervision of the Shift Charge Nurse and assists the RN and LPN in the administration of treatments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Functions within the scope of practice for a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Oregon. Maintains the confidential nature of the work environment.
Is familiar with the current condition of each resident. Performs routine resident care activities to assigned residents, including hair, oral, nail care, dressing and general grooming. Performs routine and preventive skin care.
Administers food, fluids and nourishment supplements. Administers first aid or CPR as appropriate. Assist the resident to use prosthetic devices.
Assist the resident in bowel and bladder care. Facilitates resident participation in activities as desired and able. Organizes tasks to efficiently deliver resident care.
Cooperates with other departments and care providers in the delivery of resident care. Perform detailed assignments, works under pressure and relates positively to residents, staff and visitors. Observe changes in resident condition or behavior and reports these changes to the Charge or Treatment Nurse.
Suggest changes in the Plan of Care to accommodate the changing needs of the resident. Documents routine care given and performed procedures. Participates in the orientation of new personnel by demonstration and example to assure familiarity with policies, procedures and equipment use.
TASKS ASSOCIATED WITH PERSON-DIRECTED CARE: With consultation with nurse and RCM, adjust care to meet individual preferences and unique needs. Gather information on specific strengths, abilities, and preferences of a person and reports this to the shift nurse.
NON ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following: All aspects of the job are essential. UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS:
Exposure to Blood/Body fluids is possible. Requirements: QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Current Oregon Licenser as a Certified Nursing Assistant.2 Current CPR training.

Able to ambulate, stoop, bend, squat and move a maximum of 60 pounds during routine care of an assigned group of residents for an 8 hour shift. Visual and Auditory activity within normal limits with or without prosthetics. Frequent walking and transport of residents.
Push and pull wheelchairs and other equipment. Must function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
