Purpose of Your Job Position

As a certified nursing assistant, you are directly responsible for nursing care given to residents under the supervision of licenses staff.

Job Functions

The primary purpose is to provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan. Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. However, it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in admission, discharge or transfer of residents.

  • Take and record heights and weights, vital signs as assigned

  • Assist residents in maintaining activities of daily living (personal hygiene, bathing, oral care, foot and nail care, skin care, dressing)

  • Pass meal trays and assist residents as needed with meals, feed if required

  • Pass nourishments and ice water

  • Escort residents to meals, activities and appointments if assigned

  • Record intake and output

  • Assist residents with toileting needs

  • Assist residents with transfers (beds, wheelchairs, gerichairs)

  • Answer call bells in a timely manner

  • Keep residents room(s) and service areas clean, orderly and safe

  • Distribute and change linens as needed

  • Provide range of motion and ambulation. Turn and reposition residents as needed.

  • Help maintain privacy and personal dignity of residents

  • Provide postmortem care to deceased residents

  • Communicate changes in resident condition to licensed staff

  • Complete necessary paperwork in a timely manner (ADL flow books, meal percentages, behavior sheets, etc.)

  • Participate in in-services, training, and meetings

  • Every two (2) hour rounds and safety checks as needed

  • Other duties as assigned by licensed staff

Education

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must possess a current Certification in the state of Delaware

Cadia Broadmeadow is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Nurse Management Team as our Assistant Director of Nursing Interested candidates must be willing to work as a team, and assist the Director of Nursing in leading the team! The Assistant Director of Nursing Services, RN (Registered Nurse) provides leadership and supervision to the nursing department. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services, the Assistant Director of Nursing Services monitors nursing activity, communicates change, conducts performance evaluations and disciplines staff as needed. In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the ADON is responsible for the operation of nursing services for health care facility. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ADON, RN * Assist the DON in planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with State and Federal regulations that govern Long Term Care * Ensures the proper handling of personal health information in an effort to remain compliant with the Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act * Ensures regulatory compliance by participating in or conducting mock surveys, interviewing patients and randomly assessing medical administration records * Remains clinically proficient to provide direct nursing care to a resident or to assist with resident care and dispense medication if needed * Maintains resident relations by facilitating open channels of communication with residents, their families, other departments, physicians, and ancillary personnel; resolving resident and visitor complaints and/or channeling them to appropriate person for solution * Reviews 24-hour report from every unit daily to monitor and ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in resident conditions, transfers, discharges, unexplained injuries, falls, behavioral episodes, medication errors, etc * Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems * Assists DON in coordinating nursing services with all other departments including Therapy. * Exercises supervision of resident assessments and care plans as needed * Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on unit, absence of odors, general cleanliness, prevention of pressure wounds, and apparent maintenance of best possible resident functions * Participates in admission decisions in absence of DON, and may visit prospective residents before admission * Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, and/or resident complaints or concerns * Responsible for interviewing/hiring/counseling/terminations/evaluations/scheduling and coordinating monthly meetings for CNA staff * Participates in New Hire Orientation and staff training as needed * Coordinates/oversees Restorative Program and Restorative staff, as needed * Conducts compliance rounds and nursing rounds on all units as needed several times a day, including the beginning and end of each shift, taking time to speak with residents/family and/or staff as needed * Works Weekend MOD rotation or Nurse-on-call rotation, as needed * Reviews ADL flow book as needed to ensure completion and to identify issues * Assists with survey preparation and readiness as well as participating in survey team interviews, immediate corrections of problems identified by surveyors, and any plan of correction preparation and implementation post survey * Monitors facility incident and complaint reports daily to identify those not in compliance with state regulations or for allegations of potential abuse or neglect, loss or misappropriation of resident property and participates in these investigations * Responsible for ensuring complete and timely incident reporting to state * Oversees Nursing Department in absence of DON and completes nursing duties as requested by the DON and as needed * Assists with the oversight of the daily schedule to ensure adequate staffing and identify/correct issues * May work extra hours during urgent situations that may include weather emergencies or annual survey * Assists with staff in-service education as the need arises * Other related duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Education: * Graduate of an accredited RN program * Current RN license in DE or compact state Experience: * 2 years RN experience required, 2 years nursing management experience preferred, and knowledge of long-term care regulations preferred Industry: * Healthcare ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak the English language * Knowledge of caring for geriatric residents * Must be able to sit and stand for long periods at a time * Must possess a current unencumbered, active license to practice as RN * Ability to deal with difficult residents/families/employees * Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant * Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public * Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices/procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care * Must possess leadership and supervisory ability * Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care * Ability to work flex schedule for nursing floor coverage when needed Cadia Healthcare Middletown DE
