Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

Position Summary:

Our Certified Nurse Aide is an employee certified to care for physical and emotional needs of residents in an Americare skilled or assisted living facility. Employee provides residents with direct care to assure quality of life in a home like environment while offering additional support to family and visitors.

Maintains professional behavior while functioning as an interdisciplinary team member meeting state and federal guidelines.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Provide personal care to residents.

  • Ability to provide direct physical and emotional care to resident including, but not limited to personal hygiene, transferring, lifting, maintain records, confidentiality and assistance with activities of daily living.

  • Accurately observe record and report resident care, condition or needs as well as concerns.

  • Communicate through "report" to staff on preceding and oncoming shifts.

  • Provide housekeeping duties including cleaning of common areas and resident rooms.

  • Demonstrate ability to apply restorative nursing/ therapy techniques to assist resident.

Work Environment

Indoor with adequate lighting and ventilation, carpet, tile, wooden floors.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/

Skills:
  • High school graduate and minimum age of 18 years of age

  • Completion Certified Nursing Assistant

The Opportunity Our Housekeeper employs cleaning procedures to assure orderly attractive rooms in facility. Review schedule and communicate with co workers as to individual assignments. Perform cleaning assignments for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness. Advises supervisor of completed assignments. May inventory stock or supplies to ensure adequate supplies. May investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and takes corrective action. Examines rooms, halls, and lobbies and all common areas to determine need for repairs or replacement of items and communicates to manager. Report any equipment malfunction or need of repairs to supervisor. Attend in service training per facility requirement. Document regarding concerning work assignments, periodic reports and time card. Attend periodic staff meetings with other departments to discuss company policies, complaints and make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation. Essential Duties include the following: * Plan, organize and implement using housekeeping services work schedule. * Responsible for cleanliness of facility including resident rooms and common areas. * Report necessary repairs and maintenance needs to supervisor. * Care of plants and flowers if assigned. * Terminal cleaning of each resident unit and preparation for new admission. * Ensure work cart and equipment are maintained in a sanitary and safe manner. * Ensure legible labels are on all chemicals in accordance with OSHA standards. * Utilize proper personal protective are on all chemicals in accordance with OSHA standards. * Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and see that it is clean and in good repair. * Knowledge of Hazard Communication Program and become familiar with material safety data sheets as well as assist in keeping manual updated with current chemical information.
