Key Responsibilities

At this time, we are seeking a Medication Aide to join our team!

Responsibilities

  • This is the job of the Medication Aide to administer oral and external medications to residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/vocational nurse.

  • Follows current standards of hygiene, safety and infection control when handling, storing and disposing of medications.

  • Administers medications within 60 minutes of scheduled time.

  • Takes and records vital signs upon administration of medications when required.

  • Recognizes the resident's right to refuse medication.

  • Notifies the appropriate RN/LPN when making the decision not to administer medication or treatment.

  • Clarifies any order or treatment regimen believed to be inaccurate, ineffective or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed nurse (RN/LPN).

  • Monitors residents who self-administer medications and report deviation from the plan of care to the licensed or registered nurse.

  • Secures medication cart.

  • Removes discontinued, outdated or deteriorated drugs from inventory.

  • Recognizes and reports unsafe conditions for medication provision.

  • Accurately documents medication provision.

  • Recognizes and reports general reactions to medications.

  • Recognizes the limitations of the Medication Aide role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Graduate of a state approved nursing assistant training program and passed a state approved competency examination.

  • Successful completion of a state approved Medication Aide course and is approved to administer oral and external medication.

  • Ability to perform medication administration in accordance with state regulations.

  • Strong communication skills.

Windcrest Assisted Living located in Lincoln, NE is seeking a 40-hour Medication Aide to provide medications & ADL's to our residents. Responsibilities include: * Serve residents in a manner conductive to their safety and comfort while acting within the established guidelines set forth by state licensing regulations and Windcrest Van Dorn * Assist resident with dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, and grooming * Monitor and assist with medication provision, services delivered and, if appropriate, resident condition * Escort resident to various parts of the building as needed * Assist with meal service * Assist with resident activities as instructed * Maintain a safe, clean environment within the assigned duty areas * Make beds and empty trash * Follow instructions given by supervisor and communication with supervisor on resident health questions/concerns as necessary * Respond to resident call lights promptly * Be tactful and courteous when dealing with residents, families, visitors, and staff * Treat residents with dignity and respect at all times * Perform other duties as assigned by medication aide supervisors Ideal candidate will: * Provide exceptional customer service and care * Must be able to work flexible hours depending on business needs * Have reliable transportation Benefit Offerings: * Medical, dental, vision, and life/disability insurances* * 401k retirement savings plan* * Paid time off* * $600 Sign-on bonus offered now * Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status Capital Senior Living Lincoln NE
