Functioning under the general supervision of the Service Line Manager and a licensed caregiver, the Clinical Care Associate (CCA) provides clinical and administrative support to nurses, physicians and allied health providers (Clinicians) working in the hospital licensed clinics. From diagnosis to recovery, Cedars-Sinai offers expert, compassionate care for a wide range of neurological disorders. Whether you need medical services, surgery or minimally invasive treatment, our nationally respected doctors, surgeons and support teams will work together to provide your best outcome and quality of life. Neurosciences include Neurosurgical, Neurology, Pituitary, and Neuro-Oncology patients- both short-term surgical and long term medicine patients. The goal is to have the CCA's able to float throughout each area with ease- Not only seeing patients in clinic but also following up on long term patients as a resource for prescription refills and authorizations. This person should be a fast learner, flexible, and have a positive attitude. Recommend those with phlebotomy certifications.

Job Responsibilities include:

The Ophthalmic Assistant provides support to Ophthalmologist, Optometrist and/or physician in order to facilitate the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients receiving specialized ophthalmic care. Collects patient medical records/history/information, conducts patient education about procedures and proper medical care, performs preliminary eye function testing and charts for physicians during examinations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs initial patient exams for new and returning patients to include patient history, vision test or pupil evaluation.

  • Performs technical work-ups (automated and manual) and special testing to prepare patients for examination of procedure.

  • Reviews patient charts prior to exam, prepares examination rooms, maintains equipment and inventory of supplies.

  • Reviews, updates, and completes patient Electronic Medical Record (EMR) accurately.

  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Maintains Ophthalmic instruments or equipment.

  • Preforms administrative tasks to include responding to phone inquiries/messages. Assists with scheduling appointments. Under direction of physician may call pharmacy with prescription refills and records prescription in EMR

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
License/Certification/Registration

Requirements:
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant required

  • American Heart Association BLS required

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of Ophthalmic Assistant in an Eye Clinic or Hospital setting required

  • Two (2) years of conducting testing and special procedures required

  • Ability to convey and/or receive written/verbal information to/from various audiences in different formats

  • Ability to provide and/or support a level of work excellence and accuracy; recognize and address flaws or errors that others may overlook

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain privacy, confidentiality or anonymity

  • Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of State, Federal and Agency standards to comply with regulations

  • Ability to operate mechanical/medical devices and/or equipment

  • Ability to use software applications and operate technological devices (e.g., computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.)

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Cedars-Sinai is staffed by oncologists, therapists and staff. Together they design custom treatment plans for your specific cancer to ensure you will more quickly feel normal, and that healthy tissues are minimally impacted by the effects of radiation Come join our team of Oncologists! * You will conduct patient interview, data collection, documentation in the medical record. * Prepares patient medical records, films and test results prior visit to ensure paper and/or EMR chart is ready for the licensed clinician. * Follows hospital policy for the use of two patient identifiers. * Greets and escorts patients. Communicates / interacts with patients using AIDET and Improving Service Delivery standards to maximize patient satisfaction with their experience. * You will set-up exam room, cleaning and preparing for patients. * You will be ordering/stocking of medical supplies, * You will provide general administrative support, and other duties as assigned. * Good written and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, payers, physicians and other CSHS customers. * Minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or a comparable system, basic word processing, E-mail browsers and on-line internet access. * Knowledge and understanding of the organization, functions, policies and procedures of the outpatient physician clinic, and the relationship within the larger Cedars-Sinai Health System, and apply the knowledge to the work of the office. * Experience the ability to handle multiple tasks frequently with short time-lines, to prioritize and organize work, and to complete assignments in a timely, accurate manner. * Demonstrated ability to work well as a team player and independently. * Demonstrates an understanding of technical knowledge in the effective use of computer support programs, electronic medical records and other aids for productivity * Interviews established patients to facilitate data collection prior to patients being seen by clinician. * As required by clinic, may measure vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height and weight, pulse oximetry, and record information related to the chief complaint/ reason for visit and other required information in the patient medical record. * Immediately reports all out of range and abnormal data to a licensed clinician, using approved parameters. * Completes documentation and fields in EMR templates as defined by program workflows and applicable policy. * At conclusion of intake, completes SBAR handoff to the clinician scheduled to see the patient and documents the SBAR You may also perform non-invasive routine technical services under the supervision of a license physician, surgeon or podiatrist who is on the premises. You will function within his/her scope of education/certification not to exceed what is permitted by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center policies, procedures and guidelines.
