About the Role:

Under general supervision, assists physician and staff members in providing optimal ambulatory health care to patients, stocks and maintains exam and team rooms; assists with clinical and clerical duties. Work involves direct patient contact and is performed in accordance with prescribed methods, techniques, and procedures.

Location: 2215 14th Street, North Chicago, IL

Hours: 37.5 hours a week; Hours will include one Saturday per month from (8:00am-12:00pm) and may vary depending on clinic need.

  • Monday 9:30am-8:00pm)
  • Tuesday (7:30am-6:00pm)
  • Thursday and Friday (7:30am-6:00pm)

FLSA STATUS: Hourly

Skills and Experience

  • Checks patients' medical records for pertinent data

  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms; prepares for the provider by obtaining initial information and vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, height, weights, BMI and head circumference as specified by program).

  • Documents chief complaints of patients and notifies the nurse/provider of unusual symptoms or complaints.

  • Assists in telephone follow-up with the patient as directed by the program.

  • Under the direction of the provider and/or nurse, assists with basic patient health education.

  • Inspects exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition.

  • Maintains ordered supplies and keeps area stocked. Checks for medical supplies that are outdated.

  • Performs tasks including filing, chart documentation and telephone follow-up as assigned.

  • Performs peak flow; spirometry; EKG; application of Non-Stress Test (NST) belts; point of care testing and phlebotomy services as directed.

  • Administer medication within their scope of practice.

  • Participates in the orientation and training of new certified medical assistants.

Education, Qualifications, and Certification:

  • Requires High School Diploma or GED.

  • One year of experience required.

  • Please note: Certified Medical Assistants, who have passed the exam and have been awarded the CMA, RMA, NCMA, NHA, CCMA certificates must successfully complete LCHDCHC competencies within 6 months of hire.

  • Candidates who have completed a 160-hour externship with the LCHD/CHC will have the one year experience requirement waived.

  • Ability to work on weekends, holidays, overtime and at various clinic locations as assigned.

  • Ability to maintain and keep records.

Medical Support Technician (EMT-B) Summary: Under the supervision of the Medical/Laboratory Director and Center Management ensure donor suitability, product integrity and the continued good health of donors through the compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual guidelines. Primary Responsibilities for Role: Promote customer satisfaction through appropriate interaction and responsiveness to customer needs. Selection of suitable plasmapheresis donors by performing physical examinations and taking medical histories on all donors through the use of FDA approved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual (with particular detailed attention to communications related to AIDS information and plasmapheresis informed consent) current State and Federal requirements, OSHA, CLIA, CGMP, all internal company all internal company procedures and personal education and experience. Trained to perform all duties and responsibilities of a Donor Center Technician. Performs evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability. . Ensures Donor medical information is complete and accurate prior to donation. Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards. Administration of donor consent form. Additional Responsibilities: Works under direct supervision until fully trained and then general supervision. Handles all donor screening processes and assists in the performance of physical exams, administration of consent and suitability decisions. Reviews complex cases with Medical Operations Supervisor or Medical Director. May assist with company research trials.
