Texas Oncology is looking for a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! This position is for the San Antonio Medical Center location. The ideal candidate for the Certified Medical Assistant position will have the following background and experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.

  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants strongly preferred.

  • Willing to consider a mid- or senior-level candidate.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a medical assistant.

  • Experience in a surgical environment strongly preferred.

  • Current and active Certified Medical Assistant.

  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant.

What does the Certified Medical Assistant do?

The Medical Assistant, under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e., exams, and procedures. Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physician's schedule. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

The essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.

  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.

  • Assists with procedures and exams as requested.

  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e., typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, scheduling, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.

Assists providers in coordinating patient care and recording documentation. Ensure cleanliness. Prepare list of medical supplies needed. Prepare equipment and aid physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients. Record tests and examination results accurately in patient's chart. Communicate with the physician for any abnormal results.<ul></ul></li><li>Record patient care calls and document in an electronic medical record accurately and in a timely manner. Scan documents in EMR accurately and timely. </li><li>Respond to patient treatment-related phone calls (including all post-op calls after 30 days of surgery).
