Responsibilities

The Certified Medical Assistant is trained to perform approved clinical and non-clinical tasks and technical procedures under the direct supervision of a Medical Provider, LPN or RN. Assist Clinical Team in providing patient care per St.

John's Medical, PC policy and procedure as appropriate to the ages of the patients served and the area of clinical practice. Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu by fostering an awareness of the clinical patient population.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate competence in patient care procedures and technical skills appropriate to the clinical area and needs of the patient population served.

Perform phlebotomy, various point of care testing, vital signs, Urinalysis, EKG, collect and process specimens. Report/refer issues/abnormal data to the Medical Provider as needed and complete all related documentation.

Identify changes in the patients' condition and basic patient care needs. Institutes appropriate interventions per policy and refers accordingly to the Medical Provider.

Maintain a safe environment for the patients and staff and applies the appropriate precautions and protocols (OHSA, Infection Control, HIPAA, etc.)

Demonstrate knowledge of ambulatory care setting and work-flows gemane to multi-specialty office setting.

Assist patients' with administrative delivery of care such as, Disability and Workers

Compensation paperwork, Home Health paperwork, authorizations, and act as a patient navigator when applicable.

Knowledge of ICD-IO, CPT4, HCPCS coding, as well as Workers Compensation/No-Fault front-end responsibilities (C4, MG2, etc.)

Document all patient care or tasks in the patients' medical records (E)electronic and hard copy) and adheres to the policies and procedures set forth by SJR Medical, PC. Follows "Down Time" procedures when applicable.

Daily use of Electronic Practice Management System (currently MedGen) and adheres to all policies and procedures related to workflows in MedGen as well as appropriate use ofMedGen.

Demonstrate knowledge of insurance companies, ICD• 10, CPT coding, and general wherewithal of front desk responsibilities.

Maintain cooperative working relationships and provides support to other staff in the performance of their duties within the scope of the CMA/MA position/certification.

Accept and complete directions as delegated by the Medical Provider(s) and members of the management team (Office Manager, Director of Practice Management and St.

John's Administration).

Attend business related meetings as requested.

Assist within other areas of the practice when required.

Maintain cooperative working relationships and provides support to other staff in the performance of their duties within the scope of the CMA/MA position/certification.

Provide customer service in accordance with clinic mission

Demonstrate ability to be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients, patient's family members/caregivers, co-workers, and all other individuals.

Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with policy and procedure and HIPAA Requirements

Enact proper chain of command for patient complaints, office and practice needs that require management input and awareness.

SKILLS. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Current certification from an accredited Certified Medical Assistant proyam

Some college preferred medical, business or healthcare focus

Experience: 5 years minimum of medical office or healthcare facility experience

Internet savvy

CPT, [CD-I O, HCPCS coding

Microsoft Office Suite proficient (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)Must have a high level of energy with the ability to adjust to any justifiable pace.

A Valid NY State Driver's license or ability to travel within Westchester County is required
