BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for preparing patients for physician exam/treatment, assisting physician, practitioner and nurse performing tests and procedures, provide patient care and maintenance of clinical area and coordination of all aspects of the front office.

Provides patient care as ordered and exercises professional judgment in the performance of patient care procedures. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures. Maintains patient confidentiality.

JOB DUTIES: 1. Prepare patients for physician exam. a.

Assess return patient visits, acuity to prioritize order seen in collaboration with the RN b.

Obtain height, weight, BP, pulse, respirations, temp and pulse ox if needed c. Obtain brief history for visit; document notes in chart d. Review chart to assure all documents needed are attached 2.

Perform tests and procedures as ordered by physician, to include, but not limited to: a. Specimen collection and documentation (drug screens) b. Assist physician, practitioner and nurses with exam or treatment 3.

Facilitate patient discharge. a. Participates and documents patient/family teaching. b. Ensure appropriate charges are listed on fee slip in collaboration with physician, practitioner and nurses c.

Collect appropriate co-pay or payment for services provided d. Schedule appropriate referral appointments and/ other outpatients testing and document appropriately 4. Manage clinical data a.

Accurate input and retrieval of all computer related tasks (Athena, MediTech) b. Process all test results received in collaboration with RN c. Maintain patient records 5.

Maintain clinical area. a. Keep exam rooms and nursing station clean and orderly b. Perform daily restocking, ordering of all room supplies c.

Clean all equipment utilized d. Assumes responsibility for assigned area e. Maintain clinical logs (Refrigerator logs, Task logs, etc.) f.

Checks supplies for outdates. 6. Assist with general office duties. a.

Assist with answering telephones and routing questions appropriately b.

Medical record compilation and filing c. Open and Close office daily according to procedure 7. Perform other duties commensurate with skills and training as assigned, including on-site assignments within the scope of certification/license. 8.

Documentation is clear, concise and legible. 9. Responds appropriately in an emergency situation. 10. Flexible work hours to meet the needs of organization 11.

Protect the assets of the organization. 12.

Promote positive facility and community relationships 13. May be cross trained to other offices/areas as needed 14.

Responsible for checking emails and on line learning assignments (Relias) on a regular basis. 15. Other duties as assigned by Director. HEALTH CARING STANDARDS / VALUES: 1.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: # High school graduate or equivalent with the ability to read and write. # Must have understanding of medical terminology. # BLS certification acquired. # CCMA/RMA eligible, CMA or RMA # Must be computer literate to complete task(s) as required.

Such as MediTech (Hospital Support Software), Halogen (performance appraisal system) Relias (education system), Athena, ability to retrieve e-mails, complete on line enrollment for health insurance/benefits and any other programs as assigned. SKILLS REQUIRED: # Good communication skills # Computer order entry # Manual dexterity # Knowledge of medical terminology # Excellent organizational skills # Focus on detail and self motivated with the ability to work with little supervision


Excellent customer service skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Good physical and mental health, able to relate to patients, staff and visitors. # Able to stand for long periods of time without sitting. # Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted. # Able to move and ambulate patients, using good body mechanics, unassisted. # Ability to see clearly and hear normal speaking voices. # Able to communicate verbally interpersonally and over the telephone in a clear concise speech. # Dexterity necessary to write legibly.
