  Additional Information: TITLE: Licensed Social Worker FTE: 1.0 FLSA STATUS: Exempt WORK CALENDAR: 198 days COMPENSATION: Certified School-Based Support Staff Compensation Guide (Starting $50,455) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides information and acts as a liaison between the District, school, community, and families including, but not limited to, counseling referrals, home visits, access to community resources and McKinney Vento services
Provides direct services to Exceptional Students/General Education Students and their families, within a multi-cultural framework, by providing therapeutic interventions, counseling, and crisis intervention (i.e.: self-injury, suicide ideation, child abuse, grief/loss)
Provides documentation by generating and completing accurate and comprehensive reports including a weekly log to document activities and contacts
Networks with District and school staff, counselors, consultants and community agencies to create and coordinate resources and services for students and families
Assists in coordinating and facilitating the placements and return of students to District schools from private placement, alternative programs, and homeless/migrant situations as appropriate.
Demonstrates professional knowledge and engages in ongoing professional development in accordance with the National Association of Social Work Standards and Code of Ethics
Consults with multidisciplinary teams to support academic success and social emotional wellbeing, regarding but not limited to, crisis intervention, child abuse/neglect, ethnicity and diversity, mental health, behavior management, threat management, etc
Consults regularly with the campus guidance counselors and administration to provide recommendations as needed
Submits billing for medical reimbursement for services with designated Exceptional Student populations, as appropriate per licensure
Complies with legal mandates/laws and ethical standards that influence professional responsibilities including but not limited to Federal, state, county and city statues, rules, regulations, ordinances and AFUHSD policies and procedures
Provides professional learning for staff, parents, community groups and/or students to enhance understanding of and services for the education and social/emotional development of at-risk students
Participates in appropriate professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills
Identifies and places qualifying students in homeless programming; maintains accurate written records
Ensures transportation needs for students who are eligible for McKinney Vento services to and from school is complete
Works with counselors and coordinates ordering and distribution of necessary supplies for qualifying McKinney Vento students
Counsels with students and parents to identify and recommend to school personnel solutions for the educational needs of the target group
Creates a monthly academic update for ELL students which will be provided to site administration
Maintains an accurate log that documents services provided to ELL students and families
Attends and records PAC meetings
Creates a monthly parent newsletter highlighting the District's Vision, school activities and celebrating students' success
Works with site administration to organize opportunities for ELL parent involvement, school visitation and participation in school sponsored activities
Organizes time, resources, energy and workload in order to meet responsibilities
Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues
Provides a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community
Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner
Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required Education / Certificate 1. Minimum of an earned Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution 2. Valid Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners LMSW or LCSW license 3. Must be able to obtain Arizona Department of Education School Social Work certification 4. Current and valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Experience
Minimum of five years of experience in serving as an advocate for children and parents
Demonstrated leadership and ability to work effectively with groups and individuals; demonstrated skills in organizing ideas and presenting them with clarity and conciseness
Understands and respects the diversity of the school community's economic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds and situations
Ability to establish rapport with parents, students, community, teachers, counselors, administrators and other school personnel
Ability to work with a variety of student populations and their families
Demonstrates the ability to interpret data, prepare and present reports
Exceptional professional role model
Ability to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends
Exercise leadership in the support of the planning, implementation, and long-range goals of the District
Communication Skills 1.Strong writing, literacy, and communication skills; uses effective communication strategies to interact with a variety of audiences 2. Bilingual communication is beneficial Computer Skills 1. Knowledge of Google Suite 2.
