Job Description:
This half-time, benefitted, twelve-month employee will be primarily responsible for delivering educational content meeting both National and New York State EMS Educational Standards in the lab setting and assisting Program faculty in the development, implementation, and evaluation of labs. They will also assist in the evaluation of student experiences in Hospital and Field Clinical.
During the Fall and Spring semesters, it is expected that this employee will work from approximately 0900 to 1600 on Wednesdays and 0900 to 2200 on Thursdays. Wednesdays will be dedicated to assisting the Paramedic Lab Coordinator with Paramedic Lab I & II make-ups and lab prep. Thursdays will involve assisting the Paramedic Lab Coordinator in the delivery of the Paramedic Lab during the daytime and assisting the EMT CIC with the coordination and delivery of the EMT lab in the evening.
In between semesters, it is expected that this employee will spend twenty (20) hours per week working on Hospital and/or Field Clinical evaluations, EMT lab lesson mapping, student make-up sessions, additional EMS and/or AHA course delivery, and simulation center preparatory work. Work hours during this period may be made more flexible than two regularly scheduled days at the discretion of the Director and may be eligible for remote work at times.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Minimum of 5 years actively providing care in EMS with at least 2 years as a paramedic
Current New York State Bureau of EMS Paramedic certification
New York State Bureau of EMS Certified Lab Instructor certification (current or within 12 months of hire)
Candidate must be a practicing paramedic provider within six months of hire and maintain active practice throughout employment
American Heart Association Instructor certifications in the following courses within one year of hire:
Basic Cardiac Life Support
Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Three years of EMS teaching experience or completion of NYS CLI internship at SUNY Cobleskill and one your of teaching experience
Licensed Medical Professional
Experience with NYS & NREMT Practical Skills Exams
Associate's, Bachelor's, Masters or Doctoral Degree
Nationally Registered Paramedic
Experienced in EMS Simulation & Moulage
NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator
Additional Information:
The salary range for this position is $27,500 - $32,500.
This is a part-time, term, calendar year appointment
