To provide quality care to patients under direction of a MD, RN, LP, EMT-P, LVN in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Del Sol Medical Center and the ED philosophy, Mission, Vision and Key Values. Assists in the delivery of non narcotic medications to the ED, ED nurses, paramedics and ED medical staff during procedures. This is accomplished as a non-interruptive single task from one point to the other.


Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Triage assess and treat patients of all ages presenting for emergency care for all body systems, conditions & diseases including but not limited to Coronary, Pulmonary, Neuro, Skeletal-muscular, GI/metabolic, GU/renal GYN, integumentary, etc.


  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of EMT-Basic patient care for infant, child and adult, to include basic airway management, vital signs, urinary catheterization, cardiac monitoring, and 12 lead EKG.

  • Continuous monitoring of patient status

  • Continuous monitoring of supplies in the ED, replace and restock as needed.

  • Participates in the unit based Quality Improvement process.

  • Knowledgeable with 100% compliance with Core Measures in the Emergency Department (evidence based best demonstrated practice).

  • Knowledgeable with 100% compliance with Premium Credit (best demonstrated practice).

  • Provides excellent customer service following the philosophy of the hospital, and the ED with the guiding values in daily activities.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient's right to privacy and protection of patient's confidentiality.

  • Plans, organizes and communicates patient care activities to the patient and the MD, RN, LVN, LP, and EMT-P.

  • Ensures non-narcotic medications are available for the ER physician, RN, LVN, Paramedic in a non-diversionary manner.

  • Monitors and documents information regarding patient activities, as directed by the MD, RN, LP, EMT-P, and LVN.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Current Texas Department of state Health Services certification as EMT-Basic required.

  • NREMT-Basic

  • Current American Heart Association "Healthcare Provider" card required.

We provide exceptional patient care services to the El Paso and Fort Bliss communities, as well as Southern New Mexico and West Texas Regions. POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, plumbing, carpentry and heating/air conditioning tasks, installing and repairing equipment. POPULATION SERVED: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Installs, repairs and performs preventive maintenance on various equipment in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, maintenance schedule and manufacturer specifications using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. * Operates, test and maintains diesel engine unit used for emergency power and related storage tank and transfer pumps. * Maintains and repairs air handlers, exhaust fans, supply fans, patient beds, sterilizes, generators and oxygen, vacuum and pneumatic tube systems. * Repairs, operates and maintains hot water heating systems to boilers, transfer pumps, heating coils, piping and related controls. * Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas and draining systems. * Cuts and threads pipes, fits valves, couplings and other specified parts to piping sections and plumbing fixtures. * Keeps up to date preventive maintenance records. * Must be accessible for emergency and on-call duties on a 24-hour basis. * Shall observe safety rules and regulations at all times. * Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: 2 years experience in Building Trades/Maintenance field or Equivalent Education (Trade School or Apprentice Training). REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or equivalent with supplemental apprentice training or trade school training. PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: * Knowledge of building or plumbing codes, materials, tools, carpentry techniques, plumbing, maintenance, or HVAC trade. * Ability to work from sketches, blue prints and written instructions. Exercise initiative and judgment in estimating method, materials and time needed to complete projects. Troubleshoot equipment or plumbing malfunctions to identify problem and take appropriate action to correct situation. Work rapidly and efficiently under emergency situations. Follow oral and written instructions. Able to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
