The US Oncology Network has 1,400 affiliated physicians, 400 locations across the United States and 800,000 patients treated annually.


In collaboration with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist, use critical thinking and problem solving skills to develop, generate, and evaluate treatment plans using computer software and manual calculations based on prescribed target region and avoidance dose criteria. The dosimetrist may use a wide variety of patient imaging modalities registered to the planning images; which assists in the identification of physician delineated target structures and critical structures to be avoided. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

This position requires 10% travel and coverage to our Providence, RI facility, covering PTO and emergencies, as needed.


  • Generate radiation therapy treatment plans using computer software and various imaging modalities; demonstrating strong attention to detail.

  • Identify and delineates anatomy and anatomical positioning on various imaging modalities.

  • Identify the need to create compensation filters, custom shields, and other beam modifying devices.

  • Perform patient specific quality assurance activities under the direction of the medical physicist.

  • Complete treatment plans accurately and in a timely manner based on complexity.

  • Adapt to the ever-changing technology and be open to learning new systems and techniques.

  • Perform or assist in the planning of the production of molds, casts, and other immobilization devices while assisting and/or consulting during treatment simulations as necessary in accordance with state laws.

  • Effectively communicate plan details with physicians and staff; able to offer alternative solutions.

  • Consults and communicates to the therapist staff regarding the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.

  • Documents treatment planning and quality assurance tasks accurately.

  • Transfers treatment plans, treatment parameters, field DRR's, and setup photos and notes to the record & verify system.

  • Accurately enter codes for technical treatment planning and quality assurance tasks.

  • May be asked to perform quality assurance procedures on treatment planning system.

  • Other duties as deemed appropriate.


The ideal candidate will be certified by Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) certification, and at least 3 plus years of experience as a dosimetrist, proficient with Eclipse and ARIA, experience with Pinnacle TPS and MOSAIQ considered a plus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs all patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. * Functions in the role of assistant to the nursing staff or to the Registered Nurse. * Performs non-nursing functions which impact and contribute to the quality of patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. * Provides and maintains a safe and comfortable environment for the patient: * Assists patients getting in and out of bed. * Orients patient to call light and side rails, maintains accessibility and answers call light in a timely fashion. * Stays with restless patients. * Assists in the collection of medical data, vital signs. * Assists the Registered Nurse with specific components of admission, transfer, and discharge of patients: * Preparation of the unit. * Transferring patient to bed. * Assembling patients' belongings. * Accompanying patients as directed. * Assists the Registered Nurse with ADLs: * Partial bed baths, assistance with shower and sit baths, as appropriate for patient. * Fills water pitchers serves nourishments. * Records intake and output. * Assists with collection of specimens. * Documents vital signs, I&O on appropriate forms. * Disposes of trash and linen on an ongoing basis. * May be required to float, within competencies, to other units, as needed. * Knowledgeable and compliant with infectious diseases policy and procedures: * Appropriately cares for patients on precautions. * Uses protective measures as deemed appropriate. * Separates infectious materials and disposes of them appropriately. * Complies with Patient Safety goals as set forth by the medical center. * Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. 1. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER: * Education: High School diploma or equivalency. * Experience: Must possess a minimum of one year experience as a nursing assistant or be a matriculating student in a nursing program and have completed the "Fundamentals of Nursing I & II." * Certification/Licensure: Must possess a valid Massachusetts Certified Nursing Assistant license or show proof of enrollment in accredited nursing school and completion of the courses "Fundamentals of Nursing I & II."
