Clutch City Dialysis is seeking a FT Dialysis Technician to join our team. Shift is MWF, open to close. You will love working with our team of competent, caring staff. We are located at 5910 Scott Street, Houston Texas. The Dialysis Technician functions under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse, providing safe and effective hemodialysis treatments. The Dialysis Technician provides patient care according to the prescribed treatment plan; participates and documents the progress within each patient's plan of care; and reports appropriately to the Charge Nurse regarding individual and unit processes. The Dialysis Technician has direct responsibility to ensure that all care performed and tasks delegated are provided in accordance with this clinic's policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations.

  • Welcome assigned patients and inquire as to their wellbeing since their last treatment. Report any complaints or observations to the nurse supervisor.

  • Evaluate vascular access for patency and report any unusual findings to nurse supervisor.

  • Obtain necessary pre and post treatment vital signs and weight. Perform vascular accessevaluation pre-treatment and report unusual findings

  • Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD).

  • Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings to nurse supervisor.

  • Start and Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures.

  • Evaluate the patient for prior to discharge and report any unusual findings to nurse supervisor.

  • Perform and record Pre and Post dialysis evaluation, weight and vital signs with initial identification.

  • Responsible for accurate documentation of information related to patient treatment including completion of Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet and, if applicable, progress notes.

  • Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to the nurse supervisor.

  • Observe patient, and conduct machine safety checks according to facility policy. Report any change or unusual findings to the charge nurse

  • Perform and document any intervention for unusual patient status and document patients' response to intervention.

  • Obtain all prescribed laboratory testing and prepare specimens for collection.

  • Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics - ensure all areas are disinfected, safe and clean according to facility policy.

  • Conduct all tasks necessary for preparation for dialysis treatment and document where appropriate.

  • Perform all required pretreatment dialysis machine alarm tests

  • Prepare, organize, and efficiently utilize supplies and equipment to prevent wastage.

  • Complete and document ongoing participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

  • Enters all treatment data into the designated clinical application accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Review treatment sheets for completeness, ensure nursing signatures are documented, and ensure omitted entries are completed or corrected where appropriate.

  • Prepare initial patient chart for admission and compile paperwork for appropriate placement in chart.

  • Collect, label, appropriately prepare and store lab samples according required laboratory specifications.

  • Ensure collection of lab specimens by appropriate lab courier.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Located near the Texas Medical Center, Woman's offers 397 licensed beds, including a NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) and a full range of women's health services and newborn infants. More than 650 board-certified physicians at Woman's offer their expertise and an outstanding level of quality care in the areas of gynecology, obstetrical care, high-risk pregnancy and minimally invasive surgery. * PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY * All New Hires will be required to attend a 4-week Star Tech Program. The Star Tech Program is designed for certified nursing assistants to work on Medical Surgical Nursing Units. The program is comprised of didactic training, skills training, and clinical preceptorship at the sponsoring facility. Star Tech is concentrated training prior to hospital employment. The licensed certified nursing assistant is not only oriented to the facility in which he/she will be working, but is better prepared for standard patient care assignments in an acute care setting upon successful completion of the 4-week program. The first two weeks include a combination of didactic education and skills training. The remaining two weeks are spent at the sponsoring facility working with a hospital RN Preceptor and "Certified Nurse Assistant Buddy". The Star Tech will work 3 twelve hour shifts during each week of the Clinical Preceptorship, which may include weekend shifts or night shifts, based on the preceptorship schedule and needs of the nursing unit. The Star Tech Program is based upon the standards established by the State Boards of Nursing for C.N.A.'s. Many of the division and/or facility specific training initiatives will be incorporated into the curriculum as well. Learners will be BLS and CPI certified. Nursing assistants will be introduced and trained on the facility Electronic Health Record by HealthTrust. HealthTrust Workforce is part of Parallon Business Solutions; a subsidiary of HCA (Hospital Corporation of America). The participating nursing assistants make a one-year commitment work at the sponsoring hospital. Nursing assistants will be obligated to repay a pro-rated portion of the educational costs should they break that commitment.
