Our Certified Boxing Instructors demonstrating proper techniques and methods for participants and ensures a safe, fun and enriching fitness environment during our increasingly popular Adult Boxing Classes.
We are looking for enthusiastic and exceptional fitness professionals to join our high-caliber team dedicated to the wellness of Denver's citizens.
Both primary instructor and substitute teaching opportunities are available.
Job Responsibilities: Provides exceptional instruction to individuals of all fitness levels Demonstrates professional, safe, and effective class instruction while offering ongoing motivation and feedback to class participants Creates enthusiastic and energetic class environments while providing specific emphasis on safety and proper execution of movements Shows a willingness to answer questions and utilize positive conflict resolution skills Meets the outstanding customer service standards of Denver Parks and Recreation Keeps current on all certifications and boxing industry practices Maintains attendance records for classes; distributes and collects class evaluations as requested.
Complies with employee procedures and expectations as detailed in the employee manual.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested This is an on-call position which will work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.
On-call positions may have routine or variable work schedules.
About You We are looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic Boxing Instructors who can provide engaging programming, with an eye for safety and fun!
Our ideal candidate will possess: Current certification as a Boxing Instructor by a nationally recognized organization (such as but not limited to: USA Boxing, ACE, NASM, NESTA, AFTA, or others) Current CPR/First Aid Certification Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Community Health, Exercise Physiology or related field Experience as a Certified Boxing Instructor in an organized, specialized recreation or commercial fitness program We realize that your time is valuable, so please do not apply unless you meet the following minimum qualifications:

By participating in our physical, social and education programs, participants build confidence, self-respect, and community. Activities offered include CrossFit, climbing, hiking, boxing, running, yoga, road & mountain biking, and strength training. Through traditional fundraising strategies and revenue ventures, Phoenix is able to provide free programs for anyone with 48 hours of sobriety. The Phoenix currently operates in 19 states. POSITION SUMMARY The primary responsibility of this position is to instruct programming at the Denver Chapter of The Phoenix (disciplines include CrossFit, yoga, Olympic weightlifting, strength training, and other group fitness classes). A strong connection to The Phoenix Mission and commitment to leading by example are critical to this position; preference will be given to those with personal experience in recovery from alcohol or a substance use disorder. The Phoenix is a dynamic, creative and fast-paced environment requiring employees to be flexible and able to adapt to an ever-changing environment. Full-time instructors at The Phoenix are also expected to aid in administrative functions of the chapter, such as keeping events up to date on our website, facility and equipment maintenance, conducting outreach events, assisting with fundraising efforts, trainings, or other projects that may arise. Weekend and evening hours and the ability to travel in the community are required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Coach Multiple classes each week including CrossFit, Fundamentals Courses, Boxing, Olympic Lifting, Yoga, Indoor Rock Climbing, Hiking, Mountain Biking, etc. * Facilitate partnership and community programming as assigned * Assist with facility maintenance and upkeep to ensure the facility and programming space are trauma-informed (accessible, clean, safe, welcoming), reflect The Phoenix Core Values and Community Standards * Spread the word about The Phoenix at targeted outreach events * Manage retail and merchandise inventory, restocking, and reordering * Attend and participate in local and national staff meetings, and programming and partnership team meetings * Carry out administrative functions , including updating program schedule on our website, conducting outreach events and data entry * Under supervision of the Chapter Manager, ensure coverage of community and partnership programs * Support the achievement of quarterly and annual community programming and partnership goals * Review and respond promptly, accurately and cordially to all inquiries * Be an ambassador for The Phoenix at all times * Contribute to social media through Facebook, twitter and Instagram * All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: * NASM, NSCA, ACSM, or ACE personal trainer preferred * CF-L1 or higher-level CrossFit certification preferred * YT-200, WFR or WFA, CPR/AED, preferred * Experience facilitating group fitness programs * Familiarity with multiple disciplines, including yoga, climbing, running, cycling, etc. is a plus * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from all walks of life * Entrepreneurial spirit, humility, and integrity * Minimum High School Education or GED * Certification(s) in one or more disciplines * 1-2 years' experience in program instructions within field of certification * Good organizational and time management skills * Ability to manage and progress on multiple tasks within a given day or week. * Demonstrate good verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people in a group setting. * Good organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change * Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment, and software including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and email * Bilingual preferred but not required * An ability to work in a high-paced, ever-changing environment * Willingness to be flexible with hours, including working early mornings, late evenings, or weekends as needed The Phoenix Denver CO
