Certified Athletic Trainers provide athletic training services for UVA Sports Camps during the summer and academic year. Candidates for these positions must be BOC-certified Athletic Trainers, licensed in the state of Virginia. First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are also required.
The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia seeks to hire Certified Athletic Trainers to provide Sports Medicine coverage during various sports camps, which take place throughout the year.
Job Responsibilities include:
Providing athletic training services to campers of all ages attending UVA sports camps
Evaluate and provide acute care for all sports camp injuries
Activate Emergency Action Plan for all emergencies within the camp setting
Documentation of all injuries to campers
Supervising First Aiders with on-field care of campers
Communicating with parents, First Aiders, Director of Sports Medicine, and coaches regarding all injuries and missed sessions for campers
Collecting and maintaining registration documents through the duration of camp
Providing water and ice to camps not included in the Gatorade Summer Camp Sports Program
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine

Position Compensation: $35.00 per hour.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field.
Experience: Some related experience in Sports Medicine is required. Undergraduate student experience will be accepted.
Licensure: Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification. First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. Eligible for Athletic Trainer Licensure in the state of Virginia. Valid driver's license with the ability to submit a copy of driving record preferred.
Please Note: Hires will be selected based upon the listed qualifications, in addition to candidate availability for camp coverage. Preference for summer hires will be given to applications submitted by March 1, 2020. Housing is not available.
