Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plans, prioritizes, and manages mid-size engineering projects; prioritizes tasks to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met.

  • Synthesizes analyses of data, uses the results to prepare technical reports of findings and recommendations, and communicates key findings to more senior engineers.

  • Conducts engineering processes using standard work, including verification and qualification procedures.

  • Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design decisions.

  • Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment.

  • Represents the certification engineering team in design reviews.

  • Compiles certification documentation for submission to commercial aircraft OEM's and regulatory agencies.

  • Reviews and approves design changes from a certification perspective.

  • Leads the certification test activities such as Environmental, Pressure, Structural, Flammability testing etc.

  • Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.

  • Provides technical leadership to a small group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians.

  • Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.

  • Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.

  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from four-year college or university with three (3) year related experience and/or training or a Master's degree and one (1) year of related experience and /or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Familiarity with FAA, EASA, Boeing and Airbus Certification & Airworthiness requirements.

  • Prior working experience with aircraft interiors.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required.

Role Overview: The Certification Engineering position requires a self-motivated individual that works well in a multifunctional team setting to achieve a common goal. This position will use a basic understating of customer, industry, and regulatory requirements to ensure and document compliance. After orientation and training, the Certification Engineer performs limited assignments of specific engineering tasks, e.g., a minor phase of a larger project, testing new products. Emphasis is on documentation, monitoring, and testing. The incumbent will be required to fulfill the following: * Under the guidance of more senior Certification Engineers, Staff Engineering, and management, the incumbent will perform a variety of routine tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs of the company. * Use engineering theory to develop methods that support compliance demonstration and provide solutions to minor technical issues, as well as analyzing data. * Collect and evaluate data, and develops plans for assignments that may involve design application. * Use basic understanding of regulations in FAA 14 CFR Part 21, Part 23, and Part 25 to help develop compliance evidence and guide designers. * Use basic understanding of industry standards such as RTCA DO-160, DO-178, DO-214, DO-254, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, ISO 2669, and ISO 2678 to help develop compliance evidence and guide designers. * Performs other related duties as required. Basic Qualifications: * US Citizenship is required. * Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
