Position Description

2024/2025 Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Location: CASEE

2 Positions

Reports To: Director of Special Services

Essential Functions:

  • Work collaboratively within school teams to supervise, design, and implement research/evidence based behavior interventions to produce positive behavioral change in students.

  • Plan and oversee the development and implementation of programs and best practices related to instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for students with autism and other disabilities.

  • Lead teams in the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, ABA programs and other appropriate programs for students with Autism and/or other disabilities that present behavior/learning challenges.

  • Develop curriculum and provide technical assistance on special education program standards and requirements. Assist in the development of accommodations for greater access to core instruction and inclusive learning opportunities, including the development of instructional materials, modeling of research-based, specialized techniques for academic and social success and the use of individualize materials for students

  • Consult, support and model effective specialized instruction or individual interventions

  • Assist in collecting and analyzing student and building level data and utilize the data for instructional decision-making.

  • Collaborate with IEP teams, parents, the public, and mental health community for the purpose of supporting individual student development goals.

  • Develop materials, provide resources and deliver progressional development to administrators, certificated teachers, para-educators and parents/guardians in principles and methodologies related to serving the needs of students with behavior difficulties.

  • Attend district and school-based meetings, training and participate in professional development.

  • Understand and use a variety of assistive technologies and programs.

  • Maintain student records and confidentiality.

  • Meet district, state and federal timelines and legal requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of a Master's degree in education, psychology, or other related field required.

  • Hold a valid Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Must submit a copy of valid BCBA certificate.

  • Successfully complete Washington State Patrol background check. Employee is responsible for the cost of the background check.

  • Valid Washington ESA certification as a School Behavior Analyst.

  • Understanding of current State and Federal laws pertaining to the education of students with disabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to model and lead functional behavioral assessment and behavioral support planning.

  • Must have regular, consistent attendance.

  • Must be flexible, exhibit a commitment to accomplishment, possess outstanding communication and conceptual skills, demonstrate appropriate and positive student relationships, possess a strong professional orientation, and be will to actively participate in a team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to support staff in behavioral assessment, data collection, intervention planning, and intervention follow up.

  • Ability to design and deliver quality professional development for administrators, teachers and classified staff.

  • Experience in analyzing data to plan for instruction that supports all students.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team

  • Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and reflection.

  • Physical capability to respond to students in order to maintain a safe and supportive school environment.

  • Demonstrated competency with data tracking systems, IEP development using computer supports such as Excel, Word, etc.

  • Demonstrated awareness, appreciation and respect of diversity among students and adults.

  • Character to act as a role model for students in fulfilling the requirements of RCW 28A.150.211 and RCW 28A.405.030.

Terms of Employment: continuing contract for the 2024-2025 school year with salary (Base, TRI, Ext Day, Class Funds, Start Up, PLD) and benefits provided as described in the benefit section below. At present, salary is based on the 2023/2024 salary schedule.

Benefits

Newly hired employees who are anticipated to work at least 630 hours in a school year (Sept 1 - Aug 31) will be eligible for SEBB benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and long term disability.

Retirement Benefit - Teachers Retirement System options Plan 2 or 3

Every employee under contract for a full year (180 days) will receive twelve (12) days annual sick leave. Sick leave shall be prorated based on the number of paid work days out of the 180 day school year.

Every employee under contract shall receive two (2) days of personal leave.

Parental and Bereavement Leave are also a benefit.
