Ceramic Process Engineering Manager
Job Profile Description: Responsible for managing and coordinating engineering activities related to process and equipment expansion for ceramic materials manufacturing. Leads engineering team and activities to design new processes for materials, modify existing processes for materials, and improve scaled-up production techniques.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Manage projects that require designing processes, specifying & installing equipment, and commissioning the manufacturing line.
Support the planning and execution of qualifications for equipment, material, manufacturing site, and product.
Perform long/short term equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
Identify and implement best-known-methods regarding overall manufacturing technologies, capabilities, efficiencies, and practices
Create and maintain process documentation, operating instructions, and P&IDs.
Develop best practices to maintain and improve the process
Works across corporate boundaries and organization structure to solve technical problems.
Coordinates activities across working groups for specific projects as appropriate.
Collaborates with Commercial, Operations and Technology groups to develop, initialize production, and provide ongoing support for new products in a technical role
Investigate and troubleshoot process issues.
Ensure that equipment works to its specification and to appropriate capacities
Oversee manufacturing processes and effectively utilizes Process Control System tools (i.e. control charts, PCI, OEE, DOE's, etc.) to maintain and improve product and process quality
Increase process efficiency by implementing/applying Lean, TOC, Six Sigma or other TQM process improvement methodologies
Identify and address safety and environmental concerns at earliest point
A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a materials manufacturing environment
Ceramic carbide and nitride material experience strongly preferred
Leadership experience required
Experience in specifying and commissioning complex processing equipment
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Solid communication skills - written, verbal and negotiation; ability to communicate across all organizational levels.
Performs detail-oriented tasks utilizing advanced math and language skills
Knowledge of statistical tools (control charts, Pareto, fishbone, DOE) and Lean manufacturing techniques
Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds
