AUDITORIUM ASSISTANT MANAGER
Purpose Statement
The job of Auditorium Assistant Manager was established for the purpose/s of supporting the Auditorium Manager; supervising the site auditorium and equipment during productions; providing technical expertise and assistance to staff, students and community groups in the use of the theater; and creating, operating, repairing, and/or maintaining theater sets, props, and/or equipment.
This job reports to Administrator/Supervisor
Essential Functions
Advises students, other site personnel and community clients for the purpose of providing information regarding safety, facility maintenance and use, and theater activities.
Assists theater classes, community groups, etc. for the purpose of designing, implementing and supporting all technical needs in a production.
Creates sets, scenic elements and stage support items (e.g. props, special effects, fog, haze, smoke, lighting, backdrops, fabric elements, graphics/signage, etc.) for the purpose of supporting instructor, students and community productions.
Maintains a variety of information, files and records (e.g. inventory of media equipment, stage lighting, sound systems, electrical equipment, auditorium furniture, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of resources and/or providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
Maintains stage and media equipment during presentations for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required tools and equipment within a safe work area.
Manages production support crews for the purpose of providing necessary support to theater productions.
Repairs equipment, sets, props for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working conditions.
Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or providing coverage at the auditorium facilities.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; organizing and communicating information and concepts; and operating equipment use in stage productions.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: electronics (light and sound), theater operations, play productions, set design and constructions; and stage production equipment.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working under time constraints; working with frequent interruptions; and communicating with diverse groups.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 5% walking, and 35% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Experience Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education Targeted job related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements.
