Job Summary: The Multilingual Teacher will support Multilingual students in the Centralia School District. Most of the responsibilities will be within the elementary schools. This teacher will work closely with a team of Multilingual Teachers supporting language development and access to core curriculum.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, possess awareness (for self and others), listen actively, be patient, be empathic, and be customer-service oriented
Successful experience working collaboratively with staff, students, and families
The ability to support the District's vision, mission, and goals, including the belief that all students can succeed
Ability to provide and follow oral and written communications

Demonstrated ability to be a reflective learner
Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive attitude
Bachelors degree in the field of education.
A current Washington State teaching certificate
Working knowledge of second language acquisition, bilingualism, literacy development, and pedagogy.
Working knowledge of cognitive and emotional/social child development
Demonstrated ability to schedule itinerant services for students in multiple sites
Ability to train and collaborate with staff to assimilate services into school-wide academic programs
Ability to create, maintain, and report required program statistics for monitoring and compliance purposes
Ability to establish relationships with students, staff, parents, and community
Willingness to be involved with school reform activities aimed at ensuring student success
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
Preferred Qualifications:
Endorsement in English as a Second Language
Ability to speak, write, and understand Spanish
Endorsement in K-8 elementary education.
Successful ML teaching experience.
Experience in dual language schools
A demonstrated ability to work well with people from a variety of backgrounds
A demonstrated ability to motivate, manage, and interact with students in a productive manner
Knowledge of the state essential learnings and the ability to align curriculum and instruction to state standards
Essential Functions:
Plan, implement and evaluate instructional services for ML students consistent with ML best practices and local/state learning standards
Work collaboratively with building principals, classroom teachers, and the Program Director to support student's language development throughout core content areas.
Designate accommodations and supports for state testing, coordinate and administer state language proficiency assessment
Provide student advocacy in schools as well as through outreach and collaboration with families, community groups and service providers
Attend special education and retention referral meetings when they involve ML students
Work collaboratively with Program Director, ML staff, and others to design, monitor, and evaluate Multilingual Program
Support teachers at several building locations based on student needs and ML student caseload.
Uses effective responses to student behaviors
Creates a safe physical and emotional space for students to engage in rigorous academic learning
Participates in selected training, supports implementation of best practices, serves as a liaison between schools, and facilitates district work.
Provides job-embedded training and coaching for classroom teachers and paraprofessionals focused on language development and inclusion
Attends school and district-level leadership meetings as necessary
Participate in professional development and or joins professional organizations to stay abreast of Multilingual best practices
Other duties as assigned
Salary: $57,937 - $118,339, depending on experience and qualifications
Work schedule: 1.0 FTE (193 days per school year includes 180 school days/6 district days/7 extended days)
