Job Summary

Respond and attend to guest repair requests. Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues.

Perform preventive maintenance on tools and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings.

Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed. Communicate each days activities and problems that occur to the other shifts using approved communication programs and standards. Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building.

Perform all surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough clean up of the painting or repair area. Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items. Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.

Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work. Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping as well as external landscaping sprinklers, Display basic computer skills including inputting air handler schedules and making temperature changes.

Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.

Adhere to quality expectations and standards. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Enter and locate work-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-14T00:00 Summary of Job Duties The Water Utility Worker will perform entry level mechanical duties and assists with routine operations, maintenance and repair functions for the Aurora Water Operations Divisions; Pumping & Treatment Divisions. This job opportunity is a pro-active recruitment effort with the goal of pre-selecting qualified applicants for placement into positions as they become available. This is an entry level position that is often vacated do to advancement in rank through the city's career development opportunities. Summary of Divisions: Pumping The Water Utility Worker in the Pumping section reports to a central location each morning and then drives to and performs work at remote sites within and outside of the City. The position normally works with at least one other person, but requires independent initiative to complete assigned tasks. This position works in the distribution and collection systems working with raw, potable, reuse and storm water as well as raw sewage on a daily basis. Work assignments include pump/motor oil changes, inspections, repair, remove foreign objects and rebuild. Operated valves, clean and remove objects from check valves and rebuild. Clean and wash wet wells. Wash and chlorinate storage tanks. Climb water storage tanks to heights of 40 feet using proper safety equipment. Mandatory participation in the Emergency Standby Rotation (average every 6 weeks) and participate in the City's snow removal program. Maintain CDL certification after training. Treatment The Water Utility Worker in the Water Treatment Division participates in a number of activities at the water and wastewater treatment plants that include but are not limited to repair and maintenance of treatment plant equipment and facilities, receiving chemical deliveries including chlorine, learning the operation of the treatment plant, snow removal and facility housekeeping. The person in this job will work around hazardous chemicals, perform laboratory testing, and must be able to pass a respiratory physical. Types of positions available: * Fulltime: Employee who works 40 hours on average and eligible for full city benefits to include; medical, dental, vision, paid holidays & leave, etc. * Temporary: Employees who work an average of 30 hours a week and are eligible for medical benefits only and paid holidays. This temporary position will be established on a yearly contract and does have the possibility to be converted into a fulltime position, per the needs of the department. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Assists work crews in the repair and maintenance of water, wastewater, reuse, and storm drain pump stations, water storage tanks, and treatment facilities * Performs routine and grounds maintenance * Loads and unloads tools * Maintains facilities equipment * Required to participate in confined space entries at whatever capacities assigned * Required to be in the rotation for standby call for assigned facility * Will assist with snow removal activities and snow standby call duties * Basic knowledge of the city computer systems; and performs additional duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: At least 1 year of related maintenance experience. Experience with mechanical machinery and/or water/wastewater utility preferred. Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment: Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical principles. Problem Sensitivity: The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Attention to Detail: Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks. Abilities: * Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time * To understand oral and written instructions * To operate or receive training on various types of maintenance equipment * Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively * To work shifts, nights, overtime, standby, and call back duty. * Must be able to wear protective equipment required for the job and able to meet requirements under the Aurora Water Respiratory Protection Program Licenses, Certificates, or Equipment Required: * Driver's license with a good driving history * Current Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of hire date. * This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
