Job Summary

Job Summary

This posting will be used to fill one (1) temporary part-time (36 hours/week) classified appointment at Tettegouche State Park in Silver Bay, MN. The dates will be approximately October 31, 2018 to June 30, 2019.

The position will assist the daily operation of the Tettegouche State Park Nature Store and Information Center, which provides quality souvenir, gift merchandise, educational materials, and convenience items for park visitors. This position will work primarily at the merchandising warehouse, completing data entry of merchandise, preparing merchandise for sale, and will complete the receiving process. A large component of this position will be physical with continuous lifting, bending, and transporting of boxes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Data entry of Nature Store point of sale data and inventory for an efficient profitable operation.

  • Lift, unpack, price, fold, sort and store incoming merchandise. Haul merchandise, literature, and fixtures to and from the receiving warehouse and the visitor center.

  • Complete business transactions for park visitors and provide visitor information services.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Math skills sufficient to perform basic math calculations to process and review orders.

  • English language skills sufficient to communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, and sufficient to read and understand a variety of documents.

  • Customer Service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to staff, and members of the public over the phone and in-person.

  • Data entry skills sufficient to enter and update data into computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, POS software.

  • Skill in maintaining accurate records and reports.

  • Knowledge of computerized inventory control systems sufficient to evaluate the current system and recommend changes, and maintain and update inventories and supplies.

  • Ability to perform physical demands (e.g. lifting, standing, pulling)

  • Possess a valid Class D driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Data entry experience in a POS inventory management system.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, Outlook, Excel, Word.

  • Experience working in a Minnesota State Park, including knowledge of rules, policies and the current Rec. Dynamics software program.

  • Work experience in a retail store.

Physical Requirements

Requires lifting up to 50 pounds such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.

Additional Requirements

This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver's License with a clear driving record
