Job Summary and Qualifications

Seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our dynamic team of healthcare professionals. In this role you will assume responsibility for the decontamination of equipment and surgical instruments and observe Universal precautions.   • You will wash, decontaminate and reassemble instrument sets and sterile trays/packs as well as package and sterilize all autoclavable instruments for the department

  • You will operate Steam, STERRAD and Steris sterilizers

  • You will carry out daily biological testing on all sterilizers

  • You will stock, order and maintain par levels on sterile supplies

  • You will respond to and deliver urgent instrument/supply requests from OR rooms during surgical procedures

  • You will identify instruments and equipment in need of repair and follow appropriate procedures to ensure timely repair/replacement.

  • You will coordinate sending supplies outside the hospital for Ethylene Oxide Sterilization as required and communicate effectively with Operating Room or other departments, the courier service and the sterilizing facility about the timely pickup and return of the critical items

What qualifications you will need:

  • High School diploma/GED minimum

  • Certification from an accredited Sterile Processing Technician or Surgical Technician program preferred

  • Current BLS

  • Previous hospital experience with approximately three to four months to a year of on the job experience and training necessary in order to learn the use and safe handling of processing and sterilization equipment and monitoring systems, disinfectant solutions, aseptic technique and the Policies and Procedures of the department
