Works under direct and indirect supervision of the Certified Central Processing Technician , performing daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department which include all aspects of the decontamination assembly of sets, and sterilization processes, and restocking specialty carts (CPR Carts, Case Carts, Pediatric and GU Carts, and Disaster Carts). These activities are to be performed with conscious regard to procedures while interacting professionally with other departments within the system. Knowledge of : Surgical instrumentation in regards to identification, cleaning, inspection, testing, packaging and sterilization, operation of mechanical equipment for cleaning and sterilization, infection control practices and preventative measures, regulatory agencies that govern sterile processing practices and medical terminology with regard to procedures.
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and less than one year of previous work related experience. Certification will be required by a NJDOH recognized board such as CSPD or IAHCSMM within two years from date of employment. Work requires math skill such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication.
