The role you'll contribute:

Provides leadership direction of the hospital's Central Sterile department, including decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by Central Sterile. Maintain a consistent high standard of supplies, assure that the department will meet or exceed the Joint Commission requirements and be maintained in a cost effective manner. Leads the department in performance improvement activities. Responsible for the manual and mechanical decontamination, preparation and sterilization of products, instruments and equipment. Reviews, updates and develops policy and procedures for Central Sterile and ensures staff compliance. Performs routine preventative maintenance on Sterile Processing (SPD) equipment. Keeps surgical instrumentation and endoscopes in good working order and provides oversight of necessary repairs. Maintains disinfectants and sterilization supplies. Assembles instruments trays according to count sheets, ensuring instrument trays are complete. accurate and in good condition. Orders and receives stock, perform daily cycle counts, rotates stock, post departmental requisitions. Inventory and restock surgical supplies in SPD and OR instruments according to par levels.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

• OR Circulator Experience in multiple specialities

• Advanced knowledge of sterile processing principles

• Advanced knowledge in medical terminology

• Computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to address age-appropriate considerations relating to the communication and safety needs of the patient populations served within the department.

• Must have OR knowledge and skills related to anatomy and instrumentation for multiple specialty procedures. OR Circulator skills is required.

• Must be familiar with AORN (Association of peri

Operating Room Nurses) standards and AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) Central Sterile standards.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

• High school diploma or GED.

• Central Sterile Technician or Surgical Technician

• Must be computer literate. Word and Excel experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

• Must possess a certification in Sterile Processing. The employee may use the following agencies:
• HSPA Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (CRCST) "Certified Registered Central Service Technician" (Renew Yearly)

Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CSPDT) "Central Sterile Processing, Distribution Technician" (Renew every 5 years
