The CSPD Manager, organizes, and directs the function of the Central Sterile Processing Department. Contributes toward the attainment of the goals and objectives of New England Baptist Hospital and its identified service lines. Works within the CSPD ensuring the needs of the Operating room are met. Complies with all hospital policies and procedures, as well as the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies. The CSPD Manager will serve as the direct liaison to the operating room and will be available to troubleshoot and resolve issues or concerns in the OR. The CSPD Manager will be proficient and function in all areas of processing and will be available as needed to ensure workflow is optimized.
Specific responsibilities include:
Oversees the daily operations of all NEBH Sterile processing services including the Main Operating Room and NEBOCC.
Manages the equipment and inventory to assure equipment required for cases is available.
Manages and works with CSPD supervisors and staff to ensure that quality services are provided in a safe, efficient, effective and timely manner meeting all applicable hospital, regulatory, licensure and accrediting regulations.
Able to function and work as needed in Decontamination, Prep and Pack, Sterilization and Case pick as needed and to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved.
Develops and maintains an effective quality assurance program to monitor and control departmental services.
Maintains effective and appropriate staffing levels in compliance with authorized personnel complements.
Analyzes the productivity of the department for efficient and effective operations.
Acts as the liaison between surgeons, vendors and OR Nurse leadership for all new instrumentation, supplies and implants.
Responsible for economic handling of Central Sterile services supplies and equipment.
Works with OR team Leaders and staff to ensure all sterilization and instrumentation needs are met.
Works to provide routine education to CSPD staff and OR staff.
The CSPD Manager must be CRSCT and CBSPDT certified along with a minimum of 5 -8 years Sterile Processing management experience. Exceptional interpersonal skills and a high degree of diplomacy required. Demonstrated experience managing in a busy surgical environment with a true commitment to excellence. Reputation for being a fair and consistent manager.
