Responsible for scheduling outpatient appointments for all ancillary departments according CSO protocol. Enters all patient demographic information in the Soarian system prior to scheduling the appointment.

Responsible for pre-registration of patients, patient interviews, and updating the hospital computer system with accurate information. Interviews patients by phone to obtain all required information for hospital records and billing system. Pre-registers all scheduled patients for pre-admission screening, inpatient and outpatient procedures according to department policies. Verifies insurance coverage.
3.Prior Authorization

Obtains prior authorization for any for any upcoming procedures requiring an authorization in a timely manner Maintains thorough knowledge of all Admission/Registration policies and procedures and is able to relay this information to other staff and hospital departments. Actively assists in the continuing education of MD/office and various hospital personnel related to insurance issues and acts as, an accessible consistent resource Updates and maintains accurate catalogue of all available insurance requirements as related to the admitting function.

Acts as a back-up for the Admission/ Registration functions which include patient registration. Screens all registrations for compliance with appropriate utilization of services and compliance with Federal, State and third party mandates for managed care.

Communicates clearly and appropriately with patients, while demonstrating respect, courtesy, and sensitivity. Complies with hospital and department Standards of Excellence for patient satisfaction are upheld.
6.Order Processing/Ancillary Schedules

Reviews all faxed orders and access medical notation for accuracy before scheduling appointments. Fax appointment confirmation to physician's office and provides p Prepares the daily schedules for O.R, PAS, ENDO, and Radiology for accuracy and appropriate documentation.

Performs other functions as needed, including various modes of communication and responding to patient, physician office, and insurance companies or their designated authorization clearance enterprises. Follows HIPAA guidelines while maintaining confidentiality of all protected health information.


High School graduate, two years post High School strong customer service experience.

Two years strong customer service required. Hospital experience or doctor office strongly preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Typing, word processing and computer skills. Medical terminology.

EMR strongly preferred.

Excellent written and oral skills.

Ability to proofread documents and check for accuracy.

The manager is responsible to provide leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals. Interviews and selects personnel, recommends promotions, transfer and termination of employees as needed. Prepares yearly capital, expense and personnel budgets for the central processing and central equipment department and as well as the capital and expense budget for the operating room departments. Is responsible for monthly review and identifies and documents variances to the Director of Nursing. * Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Masters degree preferred. * Must have 5-7 years of current experience working in a Central Processing Sterilization or Operating Room environment. * Certification as a Certified in Healthcare Leadership (CHL) supervisor/ manager is a plus. Must have (or obtain within 90 days of hire) a certification as a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) by the International Association for Central Sterile Healthcare Materiel Management (IAHCSMM), or, as a Central Sterile Professional Department Technician (CSPDT) by the American Society of Healthcare Central Sterile Professionals (ASHCSP). * Certifications need to be maintained by obtaining the required CEU's each year through the certifying agency. * Thorough knowledge of decontamination and sterilization techniques and procedures, infection control and work flow principles and requirements, and equipment and supply inventory protocols. Complete knowledge of clinical operations, hospital mission and goals and human resources policies and procedures. * Advanced English written and oral communication skills. * Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task, delegate appropriately and meet deadlines. * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide direction and development to employees by coaching, identifying training needs, assigning progressively challenging projects, and assisting in career development planning. * Ability to analyze and solve problems in a systematic, logical, and timely manner. * Ability to adapt to changes in daily routine. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and web browsers.
