DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Responsibility includes daily work processes, changes in regulations/reimbursement, and billing related to department, along with management and human resource duties of staff. Must also maintain knowledge of wide array of clinical departments utilizing Central Scheduling.

Works autonomously with staff to address and direct staff issues as needed. When necessary, seeks input from department Director. # Assist in analyzing the Meditech Community Wide Scheduling module on a regular basis to assist in maintaining resource dictionary, appointment dictionary, other dictionary and access dictionary and make recommendations for improvement as necessary to the Program Director. # Responsible for providing appropriate direction/supervision for assign staff, including hire/fire, orientation/training, performance management and corrective action. Monitor staff production levels of incoming and outgoing phone calls related to scheduling and pre-registration of patients.

Hire and assist with orientation of all new staff in the central scheduling area and assist in providing ongoing education for existing staff. # Maintain written and verbal communications with the central scheduling staff and management as well as other Berkshire Health Systems departments. Update policies and procedures that affect Central Scheduling. # Responsible for staff supervision, job descriptions, annual performance evaluations, participation in hiring and firing and other feedback and corrective action with staff. Resolution of day to day problems with/from staff.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.) Experience: 2 or more years in a hospital central scheduling environment is preferred. Extensive experience with Meditech Community Wide Scheduling. Microsoft Excel (use of spreadsheets) and Microsoft Word.

Knowledge of other Meditech modules (OE, ITS, ADM, and BAR, OR, MPM) is required. Education and Training: Bachelor#s degree in a health or business related discipline is preferred, Associates required.# May be substituted for the required experience if applicant has extensive experience related to the department. 3 or more years as a Central Scheduling Specialist is preferred. License, Certification

Must possess the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and rationally and meed associated deadlines. Must be willing to accept additional responsibilities/duties as position requires. Must be self-motivated and able to work with a lot of autonomy, possessing skills in problem solving and decision making.

Ability to troubleshoot/maintain proper operation of business equipment preferred. Exceptional communication, customer service skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal relationship skills are required.
