General Summary of Duties: The Central Registration Specialist is responsible for entering accurate and complete demographic and insurance information into the Medic/Nexgen system and verifying insurance benefits as well as the collection of co-pays and outstanding balances.

Examples of Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Meet and greets patients.

  • Verifies insurance benefits and proper claims address.

  • Enters insurance information and documents benefits in Medic/Nextgen system.

  • Verifies patient demographic information is correct prior to visit.

  • Collects outstanding balances and co-pays.

  • Prints up check in sheet and has patient sign.

  • Issues receipt for patient if monies have been collected.

  • Reconciles monies at the end of the day for daily deposit.

  • Refers the patient to the Financial Counselor if payment arrangements or errors in billing on the account have occurred.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required

Experience: Prior experience as a Medical Receptionist preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in customer service. Computer experience required.
