Central Referral Office Coordinator (Internal Position) Facility: CHS Services Inc Location: Melville, NY Department: Patient Navigation Hub Category: Administrative / Business Support Schedule: Full Time Shift: Day shift ReqNum: 6020006 Internal Position

Referral Coordinator duties:

  • Working with the (EMR) position schedules testing, procedures and referrals for (Organization Name) practices. Obtains pre-certification prior authorizations for procedures, outpatient tests, and referrals. Position works closely with the practices and maintains strict confidentiality.

  • Informs patients about procedure prep and clearance. Ensures informed consents are signed with 30 days of procedure. Confirms procedure schedule with physician(s), surgical department and other departments as necessary. Performs post-procedure call backs per physician instructions.

  • Ensures informed consents are signed prior to procedure and confirms procedure schedule with physician, surgery department, and other departments as needed. Confirms that paperwork is completed to ensure no delays in care or payment for services.

  • Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization as needed. Communicates financial responsibility to the patient for referral, procedures, or consultation. Attempts to collect monies due to the Medical Group before procedures are scheduled.

  • Customer Service:

  • Provides customer service functions to include addressing patient, hospital and provider inquiries and complaints from all sources in a timely manner. Initiates necessary corrections to patient accounts and attempts to repair damage done to relationship with patient. This will require interaction with co-workers, physician offices, hospital, insurance carriers, and administration. Success indicated by problems being resolved by team member requiring little director Intervention. Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills Communicates effectively with patients and management regarding service recovery opportunities works together with other team members to achieve Office and System customer service goals.

  • Teamwork:

  • Works well with others and functions as a team player. Offers ideas and solutions for issues that affect the team and work area. Stocking and ordering of supplies as needed. Maintains patient care areas. Participates in the training and skills development of new front office employees. Assists in other areas of the office as necessary

  • Development:

  • Maintains a current knowledge of clinical operations Including medical knowledge. This will be required to understand referral ls requested by providers. Develops and maintains a working knowledge of CPT and CDI coding. Participates in continuing education. Participates in the development of new programs.

  • Ensure that providers are notified using the (EMR) when a procedure, consultation, or result is complete and documentation is available for review by sending

  • Prepares productivity reports each month, including but not limited to calls, referrals, and amounts collected. Referral reporting is generated monthly and provided to Administration.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Two years of related experience in a clinical environment. Experience in clinical, referral or coding area

  • Ability to organize, analyze and prioritize work

  • Exhibit exceptional communication and negotiating skills to interact with payers, providers and patients

  • Data entry experience preferred. Business like appearance, detail oriented ability to multi-task, ability to work closely with others and function as a team member

  • Working knowledge of CPT and CD-10 coding required

  • Must possess the initiative and drive to take a project from beginning to a successful completion

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required

Show More Essential Functions * Perform general maintenance and repairs to the EVO NY facility * Look for signs of wear and tear, damage and then assess the repair and recommend options * Inspect automatic doors, handle fire system inspections, clean up water spills, touch-up paint, etc. * Perform minor repairs such as faucets, coffee pots, toilets, cabinets, furniture, etc. * Prevent small building imperfections from becoming major problems or safety concerns by performing preventative and on-going maintenance to preserve property * Responsible for maintaining a preventative maintenance program within the confines of an annual budget * Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients; establish consistent communication with internal clients which will enable timely notification of needs and problems; continuously strive to enhance the level of service provided * Maintain inventory of equipment and identify office facility furniture needs * Monitor the Building Maintenance emails for employee requests or concerns * Ensure a safe and efficient work environment for all employees * Practice and comply with all regulations promoting a safe and healthy work environment (i.e. OSHA) * Process daily mail and incoming/outgoing package deliveries Basic Qualifications * High School Diploma or equivalent * 3-5 years of relevant facilities experience * Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time * Must be able to grasp, bend and stoop; push, pull, lift or carry heavy loads weighing up to 50 lbs. * Must be able to climb at least a 10' (ten foot) ladder to change light bulbs, ceiling tiles, etc. * Ability to maintain confidentiality * Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communications skills * Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry concepts and generator maintenance * Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities with limited supervision * Ability to detect and understand warning signs of damage and know how to act on them * Strong organizational skills * Attention to accuracy and detail, with speed, follow-through and courtesy * Experience using Microsoft desktop applications with proficiency in Excel and Word * Must have drivers' license and vehicle available for occasional business errands; mileage reimbursed at company established rate * Can establish and maintain productive, positive and cooperative relationships with internal and external partners, etc. * Must be punctual and maintain regular and reliable attendance * Must be able to work extended/alternate hours on occasion to meet business needs * Must be able to be on-call for building issues and/or emergencies * Upon accepted offer, you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test and background check Sterling Payment Technologies Melville NY
