The Role

As a Central Office Technician/Field Communications Technician, you will be an integral part of our network operations team, responsible for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our fiber optic and Ethernet networks. You will work both in the office, managing switches and network infrastructure, and in the field, designing circuits and pair gain systems.

Location and Schedule

  • Reporting Location is Eagle Colorado, daily travel is required.

  • Monday - Friday 8am to 4:30pm

  • Rotating weekly pager duty to include nights, weekends and holidays.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic and Ethernet networks within the central office.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to plan and execute network expansion projects.

  • Document all operations, including maintenance and repair activities, to comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • The Central Office Technician will split their time between the central office environment, which is a standard office setting, and fieldwork, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions and physical labor

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work in various conditions. Will be working in equipment rooms (i.e., switch, transmission, power and vault within central office locations, remote equipment huts, customer premise locations and controlled environments vaults

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to lifting and/or moving objects weighing over 100 pounds.

  • Ability to travel on short notice, may travel to remote or distant locations. May be away from home overnight(s) on temporary assignments for varying lengths of time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least six (6) months experience within the last five (5) years diagnosing circuit trouble, and performing routine testing, including measuring AC/DC current using volt ohm meters, TMS, or comparable test equipment.

  • Perform all types of switch maintenance including routines and troubles.

  • Basic electricity knowledge as it relates to telecommunications (through classes or on the job-related training) including reading & interpreting circuit diagrams, equipment drawings, & technical manuals.

  • Working knowledge of Sonet/DWDM equipment and services (e.g. DCS and optical muxes).

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$59,850 - $79,800 in these states: CO

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs
