About the Position:

The Center Store Manager ensures that our customers' needs are met and exceeded through effective day-to-day management of the operations and merchandising functions for the Center Store Department. This position oversees Center Store product and conditions to optimize sales, profits, and customer satisfaction (including back room and steel/shelving and conditions, inventory, schematics, and pricing).

The Center Store Manager provides leadership and direction to Center Store associates to promote a culture reflective of Save Mart's mission statement and winning behaviors. This position trains and develops associates to enable their success and ability to advance in their careers. The Center Store Manager manages department performance and productivity to optimize store performance.

  • Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership/team building, customer service, training, organization, math and administration (to include department financial) skills

  • Knowledge of department operations and financials, store hazardous materials and food safety rules, products, visual merchandising techniques, use and care of center store equipment and tools, applicable union contractual agreement language

Education: Two-year college degree (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience)

Experience: Completion of Assistant Center Store Manager rotation or - two years equivalent management experience or - in current Bakery Department Manager or Meat Department Manager or Produce Department Manager role

Other: Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours; must be forklift certified

Physical: Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis. Requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance

From the date of entry into the AutoZone MIT program, it may be possible to progress to a management position within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on the prior experience and performance of the MIT. Responsibilities: An MIT is a member of the management team. As a member of management, an MIT will be expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store execution and performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will maintain an engaged, productive store team through strong leadership, demonstrating initiative and leading by example. The MIT is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the overall operation of the store to include: * Overall store retail/commercial management, supervision, and policy implementation * Financial management – manage, analyze and reconcile monthly P&L statements * Employee staffing, training, and development * Inventory management * Customer service leadership MITs are also responsible for completing operations and management skills training, and learning about key aspects of the business and AutoZone culture. MITs must maintain satisfactory performance and must demonstrate consistent progression through the training program in order to remain in the pipeline role and be considered for management openings. Note: Selection for the MIT position does not guarantee promotion into a Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager position. Whether and when an MIT is actually promoted to management is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to performance and availability of management openings. Requirements: * 1 -2 years of previous experience as a retail manager or supervisor * Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including morning, night and weekend shifts, and to work overtime as needed * Bilingual preferred, but not required * Previous automotive experience preferred, but not required * Previous experience analyzing company financials including Profit and Loss Statement preferred, but not required Autozone, Inc.
