What we want

The Texas A&M Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing (CEFN) is looking for a driver to assist with a new program/service. CEFN is implementing a mobile simulation/clinic program where we are looking for some one to drive the RV to locations throughout Texas where education for providers and health care may be delivered to vulnerable populations.

We are also expecting the driver to assist with transporting/delivering equipment for the Texas Teleforensic Remote Assistance Center (Tex-TRAC) telehealth program to health care facilities participating in the program. This position will be scheduled to drive on an as needed basis. Ample time will be given for scheduling purposes. The position is funded through fund appropriated through the legislature.

What you need to know

Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience.

This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding which is renewed under the provisions of the grantor of the contract. This position, therefore, is contingent upon continuation of funding of these grants and/or contracts and satisfactory job performance.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma

  • Minimum of 2 years driving large vehicles (examples RVs, ambulance, fire truck, tractor trailer)

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Texas driver's license

  • Clear driving record

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of RVs and trailers

  • Maintenance of RV, Tex-TRAC Trailer

  • Ability to hitch and unhitch a trailer on an SUV

  • Ability to drive up to 8 hours one way.

  • Strong organizational skills for trip planning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Holds a commercial driver's license (CDL)

  • 4 years of driving large vehicles and vehicles with trailers

Responsibilities:

  • Driving: Drive RV to the location for simulation, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.

    Drive the RV to the location where clinic services will be delivered, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.

    Drive the SUV with the trailer to deliver telehealth equipment, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations. Ensure safe arrival to the locations.

    Complete arrival check list. Complete departure check list. Drive Tex-TRAC Trailer to hospitals where services will be delivered or where carts will be picked up for transport back to the HSC

  • Trip Planning: Plan the route of the trip to consider height requirements of the RV.

    Determine locations for fuel along the trip route. Collaborate with sites to plan the trip and parking location. Determine that the parking location meets requirements for safe use of bigfoot hydraulic system (RV)

  • Maintenance of RV/Tex-TRAC Trailer: Ensure RV has sufficient fuel throughout the trip and upon return.

    Drive vehicle to dumping site and dump the black water. Drive vehicle for normal vehicle maintenance (ex: oil change and other fluids). Test generator and bigfoot hydraulic system to ensure in working order. Maintain departure check list.

    Maintain proper tire pressures. Be able to change a flat tire on the RV/Trailer. Keep RV/Trailer washed and cleaned.

    Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance activities, and any incidents occurring during transportation or delivery of services. Complete any paperwork promptly and accurately.

  • Assistance at Locations: Set up portable table and chairs at the location.

    Ensure generator is functioning at the site. Plug the RV in to electricity at the location (if available). Work with Tex-TRAC team and hospital for loading/unloading carts. Find out in advance where the RV/Trailer can be parked at sites.

    Communicate with stakeholders in a professional manner. Communicate delivery schedules, addressing any issues or concerns
