Job Summary

The National Science Foundation Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Science (CBIKS) Government Agency Engagement Coordinator assists the Government Agencies Working Group to develop and implement knowledge transfer trainings and coordinates with federal, state, and tribal agencies.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with the Government Agencies Working Group, the Data Manager and Science Communication Specialist to translate CBIKS research findings into knowledge transfer trainings for federal, state and tribal agencies.

  • Develops training materials to ensure instructional success with the curriculum provided.

  • Uses instructional design methods to develop assessment tools for effective learning outcomes.

  • Plans, organizes and conducts training workshops and webinars for targeted agency staff.

  • Serves as an ongoing resource and liaison with agencies and researchers.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience organizing and delivering workshops and webinars.

  • Ability to be a flexible, creative problem-solver.

  • Ability to persist through an iterative process, modifying and refining work products over time.

  • Skilled in the development and delivery of curriculum and instruction with culturally responsive teaching practices.

  • Excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make scholarly work accessible to a variety of skill levels.

  • Superlative communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships.

  • Ability to coordinate and work well with government and tribal agency staff and constituents inside and outside the University.

  • Ability to ensure compliance with rules, policies, and procedures governing assigned activities.

  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and the ability to quickly learn grant related systems.

  • Proficiency with online application protocols required by funding agencies.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Master's degree.

  • Understanding of Indigenous communities.

  • Experience with government agency outreach.

  • Typical office environment.

Additional Details

  • This is a 5-year, term-limited position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon grant funding.

  • May supervise graduate and undergraduate assistants.

  • Travel may be required.

  • This position has the opportunity for a remote work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where the employee's work location is to work from a site other than the UMass Amherst campus. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
