This is a temporary position expected to last 6-12 weeks.

You could play a key role leading the daily operations of one or two CCRC Head Start Center(s) by ensuring the school readiness our children and families and supporting our comprehensive services.

General Summary:
Under the general direction of the Early Learning Manager and Early Learning Supervisor, the Center Director will manage, lead, and monitor the daily operations of the CCRC Head Start comprehensive program at assigned Center(s), in accordance with Head Start performance standards, amendments, Community Care Licensing Title 22 regulations, and CCRC policies and procedures.

This position works during the school year only typically from August through May or June.

Successful candidates will need the following:

Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education/ Child Development, or (related field) including a minimum of 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Have 6 units in Child Care Administration and 3 units in Adult Supervision. 3 units infant toddler development preferred.

Three years direct Supervisor experience working in a preschool setting required. Head Start program experience preferred. Experience working with infants and toddlers is preferred.
1 year of experience working with developmentally disabled/delayed or behaviorally challenged children including supporting Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and/or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) using social-emotional curriculum and inclusion methods is required.

Hold a current California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Site Supervisor permit or higher.

Bilingual preferred: Ability to converse, write, and/or translate in English and Spanish or Armenian.

Criminal Records (e.g. Live Scan Fingerprinting), Child Abuse Index Check, Sexual Offender Registry, Health, Tuberculosis (TB) test and Immunization clearances required.

Hold a valid First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate upon hire or within 30 days of hire.

Demonstrated ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and families; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues & maintain a positive work ethic; complete projects under tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments.

Displays willingness to make effective decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgment; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision-making process; makes timely decisions.

Display the ability to prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; develops realistic action plans.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written.

Valid California Driver's License, reliable vehicle, automobile insurance and a acceptable driving record required.

Maintain composure under emergency situations and administer first aid for minor injuries and/or accidents.

Ability to develop an environment that is free of disruptive influences.

Within the team structure, provide quality preschool services for children enrolled in the Head Start program which include the following responsibilities:

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and meet deadlines for program services for all children at assigned center. Plan, develop, and implement education program, ensuring daily operations of the center from opening to closing and organizing, scheduling, and planning for all center staff meetings.

    Directly supervise, evaluate, and assess staff assigned to the center. Provide leadership by example through guidance of staff in the vision and principle of CCRC Head Start, respect of individuals and community, and exhibiting qualities and skills of a leader. Mentor and train all staff in Creative Curriculum, policies and procedures, documentation, and review of children files.

    Develop and conduct on-going in-service training to center staff, colleagues, and support staff as needed.

    Ensure healthy and safe conditions of the center environment including office areas, classrooms, outdoor areas, and common areas for center staff and families. Ensure adherence to suspected Child Abuse Reporting policies, procedures and documentation by all center staff. 80%

Staff and Family Partnerships

  • Supervise and oversee implementation of comprehensive services from teachers and Family Advocates. Respond promptly and appropriately to parent concerns, involving teachers, administrator, families or external support personnel as needed.

    Encourage parental involvement though conferences, classroom activities, planning. Plan, schedule, attend and participate in parent meetings, Center meetings, case conferences, in-service trainings, orientations, workshops, home visits, field trips, and seminars. 10%

Record Keeping

  • Support and maintain a system of confidentiality for record keeping, accurate documentation and maintenance of individual records and reports related to all service areas of CCRC Head Start. Develop and maintain well-defined lines of communication and professional boundaries with staff and parents.

  • Submit monthly reports on Center's activities, expenditures and needs ensuring that reports required by the agency and funding source are accurate and timely. Maintain personnel files and professional development records of preschool classroom early learning staff. Complete any Unusual Incident reports. 10%
