Paid Time Off:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Center Administrator is responsible for coordinating and directing activities of two very busy Endoscopy Centers according to accepted standards. Responsible for the fiscal activities of the centers. Works collaboratively with Nurse Manager, Clinical Director, or Charge Nurse (as required) to oversee the supervision and direction of nursing care and patient scheduling, according to the centers policies, procedures, and objectives. Responsible for management of all aspects of personnel, education of personnel, and administrative duties. Works closely with the Governor's Board and center staff in coordinating patient and staff service functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates and/or Bachelor's degree required from an accredited College or University; Master's degree preferred

  • At least five (5) years of healthcare-management experience

  • At least one (1) year experience in an ASC

  • Evidence of leadership qualities

  • Strong ethical and moral character references

  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English

  • Computer literacy

  • If not a Registered Nurse, must know the regulations and standards of care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations:

  • Monitor FTE utilization and make recommendations to promote cost-effective staff utilization practices.

  • Oversee comprehensive and informative orientation programs for new employees in all clinical areas.

  • Direct and participate in Center committees, meetings, in-services, and activities.

  • Provide input regarding short- and long-term goals of the Center.

  • Ensure the Center is clean, and facility is maintained per policy, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensure equipment is clean, disinfected, sterile (as required), and operational at all times.

  • Ensure continuing education for clinical staff members as needed.

  • Monitor operational activities for effective and efficient management of daily operations.

  • Manage performance of services provided by contracted providers (e.g., pathology, radiology, housekeeping).

  • Prepare or delegate staffing schedules in accordance with vacations, holidays, daily personnel assignments, and duties according to experience and skill level to provide quality patient care.

  • Ensure staff are cross trained (as appropriate) to provide a productive and efficient work environment for all areas.

  • Review daily time and attendance sheets and maintain attendance logs.

  • Observe and evaluate the performance of all center personnel and work to continuously improve the quality of care and services.

  • Counsel center personnel and make recommendations for salary adjustments, promotions, and/or terminations.

  • Evaluate suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care.

  • Analyze data from quality assurance performance-improvement program and prepare reports and action plans.

  • Share knowledge gained in continuing education with center personnel.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Information Security Policies and ensure that AMSURG remains as secure as possible.

  • Computer literate, able to create and review documents in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as required.

  • Regular and predictable attendance.

  • Attend all required education.

Medical Staff:

  • Maintain open line of communication with Medical Director, Anesthesia Director, and QAPI Chairman.

  • Oversee medical staff and the allied health credentialing program.

  • With Medical Director, coordinate ongoing and event-related Peer Review Processes.

  • Maintain confidentiality of medical staff/allied health credentialing files.

Regulatory:

  • Remain current on applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and professional and accrediting-body standards.

  • Submit required reports on a timely basis.

  • Develop, interpret, and implement policies, procedures, regulations, programs, and recommended practices to meet requirements of regulatory and accrediting organizations.

  • Review policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance with state, federal, and accrediting-body rules, regulations, and standards.

Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI):

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Center's adopted quality assessment, performance improvement program.

  • Assist in the maintenance, education, and implementation of the Centers policies and procedures to the Governing Board, the QAPI committee (as required), and the wider Healthcare team.

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Center's adopted compliance program.

  • Actively contribute to the QAPI process and identify your own role and contributions.

  • Ability to analyze data from performance improvement program, prepare reports, and develop action plans for presentation to the QAPI Committee.

  • Serve on the Quality Assessment, Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee.

Safety:

  • Implement best practices and regulations adopted to provide safety in the workplace.

  • Monitor the Center's physical environment and initiate methods for maintaining safety, comfort, cleanliness, and efficiencies.

  • Monitor the care, cleaning, and required maintenance of equipment to maintain proper working conditions. Identify and evaluate the need for items relative to trends, center personnel requests, and positive patient outcomes.

  • Work with the Safety Officer to resolve observed or suspected safety violations and hazards to ensure policy and procedure compliance.

  • Submit information to a Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager (as required by the State) for preparation of risk management reports.

  • Ensure OSHA regulations are met, clinical staff is educated, and supplies are readily available.

Maintenance and Materials Management:

  • Within budget allowances, identify trends or the Center's need for new or different items to promote cost effectiveness and minimize waste.

  • Utilizing Materials Management principles, promote cost containment and the efficient use of Center resources,

  • Analyze and make recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements within the Center.

  • Ensure the Center is maintained to provide a comfortable and safe working environment.

  • Chair or participate in designated committees.

  • Ensure adequate inventory and manage new product/equipment implementation.

  • Monitor and verify that required materials management documentation (i.e., purchase orders, invoices, delivery receipts etc.) are current and complete.

  • Ensure appropriate purchasing practices are followed.

Marketing:

  • Assist with marketing plans in collaboration with management company and Governing Board.

  • Market to Managed Care Entities, Physicians, and their staff (as required by the Center).

  • Maintain awareness of the medical community and assess new provider candidacies for medical staff membership.

Financial:

  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating reports (MOR).

  • Promote cost containment and efficient use of Center resources.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of capital and operating budgets.

  • Submit reports on the Center's fiscal, human, and material resource requirements.

  • Analyze cost benefit data to identify potential cost-effective improvements and make recommendations.

  • Approve payroll submissions.

  • Submit and monitor invoices for payment in the AP system.

Professional Competence:

  • Participate in continuing education and other learning experiences.

  • Maintain membership in relevant professional organizations.

  • Seek new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities.

  • Share knowledge gained in continuing education with center personnel.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner. Must be able to work well with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized. High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information. Must be able to exercise good judgment. Must pass a background check and drug screen.
