POSITION SUMMARY

The City of Dania Beach is committed to employing a talented and diverse workforce. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the Cemetery Assistant position. The ideal candidate is responsible for performing skilled labor-intensive work in grounds and maintenance of the City cemetery. Incumbents in this classification are responsible to assist in the preparation of burial plots, funeral set-ups, and the safe and effective operation of light to medium equipment to perform assigned duties. Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Assist the Cemetery Caretaker in the preparation and set up for funeral services. This includes setting up tents, chairs, carpet, and chains; setting markers, and preparing cement frames.

• Operates a variety of light to medium equipment, e.g., mowers, edgers, weed-eaters, chippers, chainsaws, and leafblowers.

• Performs skilled operation of various grounds maintenance tools and equipment, including mowers and weedeaters.

• Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and securitystandards.

• Responds to call-ins in the event of hurricanes or other criticalevents.

• Engages in grounds maintenance duties, general custodial tasks in and around buildings, parking areas, and other assignedfacilities/grounds.

• Performs a variety of general maintenance duties, including painting interior/exterior of facilities.

• Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

• Performs all duties associated with mausoleum activities and maintenance

Qualifications

What's required:(Minimum Requirements)

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Minimum one (1) year experience in field/facilities operations.

• A valid Driver's license is required, with an overall good driving record. If driver's license is out of state, must be able to obtain a Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire date.

What's preferred: (Desired Requirements)

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in field/facilities operations.

• Previous experience working in a cemetery.

• Available to work flexible hours including weekends.
