Job Summary:

Load bulk trucks, load and unload railcars. Assist other Terminal Operators in repairs, installations, maintenance, and operations of all terminal equipment used in the shipping and transfer of cement and fly ash. Assist in unloading ships and barges. The Cement Terminal Operator must perform all duties in a safety conscious manner and in compliance with all applicable environmental laws and policies. The position reports to the Terminal Manager.


  • Inspect all machinery and equipment for defects daily.

  • Use dollies, hoist, and winches.

  • Operate rail car mover and forklift to move materials throughout the terminal.

  • Maintain all mobile equipment in proper operating condition, including checks on tire inflation, brakes, waters, and oil pressure.

  • Perform cleanup work in assigned areas.

  • Operate moving equipment to spot and unload cement and/or fly ash railcars.

  • Operate weigh devices as Weigh Master.

  • Load and weigh bulk cement and fly ash trucks.

  • Maintain bill-of-lading, certifications, and all other paperwork associated with loading and receiving cement and fly ash.

  • Perform some welding; perform cutting and heating with Oxygen & Acetylene Equipment.

  • Perform other assigned work incidental to this classification.

On a daily basis movements are scheduled from start to finish. On a weekly basis this position is responsible for a movement projection plan. * Analyze sales plans and develop plans to meet their needs within the rundown/runout spreadsheets. * Aid in the development of a product movement schedule and daily movement orders. * Responsible for the daily movement schedule and the weekly movement projection schedule reporting. * Tracks the progress of shipments between third party suppliers and/or internal supply sources and the terminals. * Communicates movement requests both verbally and in writing to ensure proper shipment instructions. * Constantly interfacing with the terminal and accounting to assist in producing an accurate daily inventory balance. * Maintains a continuous knowledge base of the rundown/runouts and supply levels. * Resolve scheduling conflicts to minimize demurrage costs on shipments and meeting windows on deliveries. * Knowledge of limitations on our delivery system. * Acts as a strong team player in trouble-shooting supply issues. Requirements: * A high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required. Bachelor's degree preferred. * No experience required; petrochemical industry preferred. Relevant experience will be considered for the position. * Strong mathematical and computer skills are needed. Must be able to deal with constant change and variation. * Ability to communicate effectively and clearly is a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills required. * Excellent PC skills to include Microsoft office applications. * Strong attention to detail, with the ability to proof work for accuracy. * Ability to coordinate effectively with other personnel, corporate departments, as well as, with external customers required. * Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. * Ability to take directions from supervisors and work in a team environment.
